A Dotty[1] is an enemy in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong (Game Boy)[edit]

Dotties are encountered in the Forest, first appearing in the level Stage 2-1. Dotties behave similarly to Rappies, walking in circles around the environment, up walls and on the ceiling. In Stage 2-6, Dotties walk considerably faster than usual, making them harder to avoid. They do not hurt Mario, though they can push him around and are invincible. They can also be stood on, but not picked up.

Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]

The Mario Bros. escape a hoard of Dotties in Super Mario: Donkey Kong 1

In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, Dotties appear in the Donkey Kong adaptation.

In chapter 2 of Super Mario: Donkey Kong 1, Monchee teaches Mario and Luigi how to swing on vines to cross a gorge. The brothers are too scared to try, but as soon as they learn that a hoard of Dotties is coming for them, the brothers swing on the other side of the pit. Unfortunately for them, the Dotties walk their way on the other side of the pit and run the brothers over anyway.

A Dotty appears in the bonus chapter, as one of the animal attractions in Peach Zoo.

In Super Mario: Donkey Kong 2, a Dotty is seen with the other enemies building the Tower and attacking Mario and friends in chapter 2 until Monchee interveens; and in chapter 3 one is seen helping the Kongs fight the Kremling Krew, until DK and Donkey Kong Snr. are knocked out, causing the Kong army to retreat after the defeat of their leaders. In the latter appearance, the Dotty flies into the battle.
