In late 2020, Jeffrey Benton invited me to Louisiana to spend a long New Year’s weekend with his family and ring in 2021. It was incredibly generous, as we had only recently met, and I had questions. Earlier that year, a business owner handed me a copy of Traction, looked me in the eye, and said, “Your story and experience align with this book. There are a lot of business owners in Columbia, including me, who need this system. You're the guy who can help us." I read the book and my heart caught fire. In Traction, I recognized the similar approach I'd used to transform two organizations, only this system was comprehensive and light-years ahead of mine in every way. Even though I knew becoming an EOS Implementer was the path for me, and I had just turned down a rare, high-speed job offer to follow it, I still had questions. Thank God for Jeff Benton. Because of his generous invitation, I was able to ask the questions I needed to ask, learn from his experience, and receive great advice - all while sailing, eating donuts, drinking bad coffee, and having so much fun on the water. I returned home with the confidence to take the plunge into the EOS universe. Five years ago today (Jan 15, 2021), I launched my business and became an EOS Implementer. What an adventurous journey it has been, and what amazing people I have met and grown close to along the way. Thank God for surprising acts of generosity, for my wife who supported at every step, for all the leadership teams and clients across SC and Charlotte that I've been blessed to help over the last five years, and for all the phenomenal EOS Implementers out there who have become family! This sounds like I've won an Oscar, but much love to you all! EOS Worldwide #EOSFamily #ColumbiaSC #CharlotteBusiness

  • You don't lose focus all at once... You lose it one "great idea" at a time. You start simple. One logo. One thing. Real clarity. Then momentum shows up… and so does temptation. The temptation to do everything for everyone, to be everything to everybody, and to chase every corner of the market. It sounds ambitious. It even feels responsible. And it quietly creates confusion. When you let distraction drive, you don't just make your own role harder. You make it harder for your team to execute and for the marketplace to understand you. That confusion and distraction costs a whole lot. So if you've been feeling scattered lately, we want you to hear this: you're not broken. You're human. We rationalize. We justify. We call it strategy. And you still get to choose your way back. Get honest about what you're saying "yes" to. Get disciplined about what you're saying "no" to. And come back to the simple thing you do best, on purpose.

  • Abundance isn't something you acquire after you fix the chaos. It's something you tune into before the chaos ever loosens its grip. Here's what tuning in actually looks like in a business: 👉 Measuring what truly matters every week 👉 Designing your days instead of reacting to them 👉 Making decisions with data, not vibes 👉 Creating clarity so your team can breathe again You don't find abundance at the finish line. You activate it at the starting line. Give before you get, and you'll receive more than you could ever imagine.

  • If you've spent time in the corporate world, you know how soul sucking it is. And now, as an entrepreneur and self-driven individual, you want a values-driven culture, not just "values on the wall." In the latest episode of #RealTalk with an EOS Implementer, Mark O'Donnell, EOS Worldwide Visionary, sits down with EOS Implementer Justin Cook to talk about what pulls great leaders (and great coaches) toward this work: building teams where Core Values are real, lived, and reinforced. Justin has always had this passion for creating…a great culture that's driven by values, and EOS gave him the clarity and simplicity to do it. We're covering a ton of great topics: 👉 The breakthrough moments when teams finally hear each other 👉 Why the People Analyzer creates fast, objective clarity 👉 How leaders turn Core Values into culture through specific, consistent examples 👉 What "scaling impact" looks like beyond revenue If you've ever wondered what it's like inside the EOS Implementer Community, this episode is a real window into the purpose, the people, and the impact: https://lnkd.in/ggzrGJgd

  • Leaders: ask yourself an honest question — is your company culture actually healthy, or are you just telling yourself it is? In his latest piece on how culture denial silently destroys companies, Mark Abbott challenges us to stop rationalizing the warning signs and start facing reality head-on. Too many of us equate perks with culture, hand out coffee gift cards instead of listening, or hope problems will just fade, and in the process, we trade long-term trust for short-term comfort. Here's the truth: 🔹 Culture is how work actually gets done, not what you wish it looked like. 🔹 You must define it honestly, ask for real feedback, and own the gaps between intention and experience. 🔹 Once you see what's broken, you can reset with intention — not slogans. If you want your organization to thrive (not just survive), facing the hard stuff is the only way forward. Here's how to stop avoiding the problem and start fixing it 👉 https://lnkd.in/ei33iFBt

  • Business coaches: quick question… How strong is YOUR coaching practice? (Not your clients’ businesses — yours...) If you’re serious about scaling impact (and building a practice that runs with clarity and consistency), take the Business Practice Checkup in EOS Academy. It’s a short quiz that evaluates your practice across six essential components: ✅ Vision ✅ People ✅ Priorities ✅ Metrics ✅ Processes ✅ Execution You’ll walk away with a clearer picture of what’s solid, what’s missing, and where to focus next so your practice is simpler, stronger, and easier to grow. Take the Business Coach Practice Checkup here: https://lnkd.in/gxBZ3NZn p.s. Have questions about your results? Reach out to Lauren Shaver!

  • In Kansas City, the orange brick road leads somewhere real: Traction Town 🛞 (a.k.a. the #EOSConference2026 😉 ) This is where leadership teams get 100% on the same page, set clear priorities, and build the discipline to execute. And once you're not in Kansas anymore, you'll be equipped with a simpler, stronger way to run your company! If you're coming to the EOS Conference, drop a 🧡 in the comments and tag a fellow entrepreneur who should be on this road with you 👉 www.eosconference.com
