Most people are trying to pick one “best” AI tool. That’s actually the biggest mistake. AI isn’t optional anymore — especially heading into 2026. It’s becoming a core layer of how we work, research, create, and make decisions. And if you rely on the wrong tool for the wrong task, you lose time, accuracy, and momentum. For the first time, single-name exposure can increasingly be adjusted in real time — not just when the cash market opens. That creates opportunity. But it also creates operational pressure. 1️⃣ Equity risk becomes continuous Earnings releases, geopolitical headlines, and macro shocks don’t wait for 9:30am ET. Now, traders don’t have to either. 2️⃣ Hedging efficiency improves Portfolio managers can manage single-stock exposure overnight instead of relying solely on index futures as a proxy. 3️⃣ Liquidity and margin frameworks must adapt Overnight sessions mean thinner books, different volatility regimes, and more dynamic risk modeling. 4️⃣ Brokerages now face a 24/7 reality If trading is continuous, support can’t be 9–5. Jason Randolph shared thisOne of the biggest trends in retail brokerages. The line between trading prop firms and brokerages is disappearing. Over the past 12–18 months, one of the biggest structural shifts in retail trading has been the convergence of prop trading firms and traditional brokerages. We’re now seeing three clear trends emerge: 1️⃣ Built-in monetization beyond challenges Prop firms built their model on evaluation fees and simulated trading. Brokerages built theirs on spreads, commissions, and lifetime client value. Now we’re seeing hybrid models where firms capture both: – Upfront evaluation revenue – Ongoing brokerage trading revenue – Higher LTV per funded trader Owning the full trader lifecycle is simply more profitable. 2️⃣ Control of the customer relationship When prop firms rely on third-party brokers, they lose visibility into trader behavior, retention, and lifetime value. By integrating or launching their own brokerage infrastructure, firms can: – Track behavior at a trader ID level – Optimize lifecycle marketing – Increase retention and reactivation – Cross-sell funded + live accounts This turns a one-time challenge buyer into a multi-year customer. 3️⃣ Regulation + sustainability pressures As scrutiny on prop models increases globally, firms are looking for more durable structures. Brokerage integration provides: – Clearer revenue legitimacy – More stable long-term economics – Greater operational control – Expanded geographic flexibility What this means for 2026: The winning firms won’t be “prop companies” or “brokerages.” They’ll be trading ecosystems that combine acquisition, evaluation, execution, and retention under one roof. If you’re building or marketing in this space, the key question is no longer: How do we acquire more traders? It’s: How do we maximize lifetime value across the entire trading journey? Every founder knows that the better things are going and the more plates you're spinning, the more you end up working. Which may explain those heavy bags under my eyes. In the last four weeks we... 🥷 Pinched a 500+ person agency from under the nose of our biggest competitor 🌟 Won our largest platform client to-date 💻 Doubled the size of our engineering team 📍 Launched Obsero Local, agent analytics, alerting, v1, v2, v3 and v4 of our MCP (building and optimising an MCP has been a real ride) and a bunch of performance improvements under the hood 💰 Had one of our customers tell us that they landed an £18m deal through a lead who discovered them on ChatGPT 🔛 Saw one of our FinTech customers double their coverage with Obsero to 12 markets, on the back of the success with their initial smaller scope 🎤 Have been invited to speak at our first conferences ⛳ I also broke 80 for the first time. This is wholly unrelated to Obsero but I've told anyone who will listen irl and so LinkedIn can be subjected to the humble brag too The result of all of this is that we've seen Obsero.ai's monthly active platform users increase by 40% versus June and more than double since May. To allow us to accelerate momentum even further, we also kicked off our seed raise in July. Being able to give prospective angels and funds this good news as it's dropped over the course of the month has been hella fun. With the raise aiming to close in September I don't expect this month will be any quieter... Just weeks after celebrating a staggering 439% cumulative return through June, the 25-year-old former OpenAI researcher's firm is now working alongside major prime brokers, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Bank of America, to meet steep margin requirements and manage an orderly unwind of positions. The fund’s aggressive, highly leveraged thesis on the AGI physical hardware chain faced severe blowback this month as primary holdings like Nebius, CoreWeave, Bloom Energy, Micron, and AMD tumbled anywhere from 20% to over 50%. Managed by a surprisingly lean team of just four investment professionals, the firm’s concentrated long bets on AI power and compute, compounded by misjudged short positions on software names, left the portfolio exposed to severe downside when tech markets corrected globally. In a July 24 letter to investors, Aschenbrenner framed the historic downturn as "the most attractive investment opportunity since early 2025," announcing plans to open a new funding window on August 1 while offering LPs the opportunity to acquire portfolio assets directly. To raise immediate liquidity, the firm is also shopping around private stakes, including its prized position in Anthropic, which previously represented about 20% of the fund's total assets, hoping to stabilize operations ahead of a widely anticipated Anthropic IPO later this year.

Jonathan Richardson was sentenced to 55 years in 2002 after he strangled his 11-month-old stepdaughter Faith Lee in 2001. He served just over 20 years before being released on parole. Months later he violated parole and was taken back into custody. His earliest possible release is now 2041. An infant did not survive. Her own father convicted of ending her life was allowed back into the community decades ahead of schedule. The public learned about the early release after the fact. Then he proved exactly why it never should have happened. This is what soft-on-crime policy produces. Lock them up and keep them locked up. #Justice #PublicSafety

Owner HDR Global Trading Limited cited a "strategic review of the business and the broader crypto industry." New account registrations are already halted. From August 26, the platform will block new positions and allow only position reductions before force-closing everything ahead of the final date. Users who don't withdraw by the deadline will be hit with custody fees. BitMEX invented the 100x leverage perpetual swap in 2014, now the most traded financial product in crypto and replicated by thousands of exchanges worldwide. It also never lost a single dollar of customer funds to a hack across its entire operating history. What ended its run wasn't a breach or a collapse. It was co-founders Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed pleading guilty in 2022 to Bank Secrecy Act violations, a $100M penalty, and years of market share erosion to better-capitalized competitors.

The difference is that today, stricter rules and fuller disclosure can make this legal. The process is simple: the company moves debt for chips, servers, and power into a separate entity, often a joint venture, keeping the cost off its own accounts. Meta’s Louisiana data center was financed through a separate venture with Blue Owl Capital that took on $27 billion in debt, while Meta remains the only tenant. Other tech giants use similar arrangements: Oracle has $260 billion in future lease obligations, Nvidia has $119 billion in purchase commitments, and Alphabet and Microsoft also keep some liabilities off their main balance sheets. Four of the five companies are set to report earnings soon, and their headline debt numbers may look reassuring.
