But very few stop to examine the assumptions driving those decisions. Every strategy rests on a set of beliefs:
• What customers truly value.
• Why they choose us over competitors.
• Where AI creates differentiation versus commoditization.
• Which markets deserve investment.
• What will drive the next phase of growth.
The challenge is that markets evolve faster than organizational beliefs.
Yesterday's winning assumptions quietly become today's blind spots.
Introduce the 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁. Rather than asking only, "How are we performing?", leadership teams also ask, "What do we believe that may no longer be true?"
That simple shift changes the conversation from measuring execution to challenging assumptions.
In an era defined by AI, rapid market shifts, and changing customer expectations, competitive advantage won't belong to organizations that simply execute faster.

The 1 Question You Should Always Ask Yourself Before Launching A New Product Or Service
Thrive Global
See publicationThere are several things entrepreneurs need to consider before building and launching a new product or service. These include, for instance, the value proposition of the new product, its market validation, and how customers will use the product or service. But perhaps the most important consideration is one entrepreneurs too often neglect: what is the […]

Every Successful Company Has An Impactful Story. Here Are 4 Ways To Better Tell Your Own
See publicationBehind every successful company is a successful story––an impactful narrative that truly resonates. In fact, companies need impactful, resonant stories––from origin stories to stories about your philosophy and mission––because that’s what people relate to and remember. Facts, accomplishments, and even impressive technological capabilities generally don’t prove as effective, depending on the audience. And the reason is because […]

The 3 Traits Every Marketing Leader & CEO Needs To Have—And How To Develop Them
Thrive Global
See publicationJust like any other executive position, marketing leadership roles are unique in what they require from those who fill them. Ultimately, what’s required of these essential positions comes down to the three “i’s”: Inform, Influence, and most importantly, Inspire. However, I believe that every executive leader should make a note to focus on these three traits. The last “i,” especially, […]

3 Small Aspects Of ‘Customer Experience’ That Make A Big Competitive Difference
Thrive Global
See publicationThe definition of customer experience––or, CX––can be difficult to pin down. It means different things to a customer than it does to a seasoned vendor, for example. Some think of it as encompassing only the check-out experience; others conceive of it as more holistic, where the environment of the store or site, its layout, and […]

Historically, the company brought strong engineering and product depth across block, file, object, and infrastructure offerings. However, market dynamics were changing. Buyers were no longer purchasing isolated arrays — they were investing in hybrid cloud data platforms capable of supporting AI, cyber resilience, and consumption flexibility. The opportunity was not incremental messaging refinement; it required reframing the portfolio around a cohesive strategic vision.
1) Product marketing led that transformation. First, we defined the platform architecture story — articulating how existing and next-generation capabilities aligned under a single hybrid cloud data foundation. This included clarifying value pillars: unified control plane, workload portability, performance guarantees, cyber resilience, and sustainability. We shifted messaging from speeds and feeds to business outcomes — modernization, risk reduction, and cloud-like economics.
2) We aligned product, sales, and executive leadership around a platform-first narrative. Launch strategy moved from SKU-based announcements to a staged market introduction: vision reveal, roadmap validation, general availability, then portfolio expansion. Each phase reinforced strategic positioning.
3) We operationalized GTM execution — integrated campaigns, field enablement, analyst engagement, and marketplace partnerships — ensuring consistent articulation across regions and channels.
The result was more than a product launch. It was a repositioning of Hitachi Vantara as a hybrid cloud and AI data platform provider, with Virtual Storage Platform One as the strategic centerpiece.Other creators -

The results speak for themselves: the EPA's ENERGY STAR program ranked Hitachi Vantara first, second, and third in energy-efficient storage across all major global vendors. EcoVadis awarded the company a Gold Medal for sustainability practices. Customers validated the impact — BMW Group reduced its storage footprint by 70% and cut power consumption by 80%. La Molisana achieved a 30% energy reduction, while Malayala Manorama cut power and cooling costs by 70%. Sustainability isn't a promise here. It's provable.

IDC-Recognized Market Category Creation — "Big Data Flash"
