Standing opposite the United Nations in Geneva is a 12-metre chair with one of its four legs deliberately shattered. The Broken Chair was created in 1997 as part of a campaign by Handicap International to draw attention to the devastating impact of landmines and to push governments towards banning them. Its location was deliberate: right in front of the UN, where diplomats and world leaders could not easily ignore it. What struck me was the thinking behind it. The people who created the chair understood that sometimes, a message needs more than words. A report can be read. A statistic can be discussed. But a giant chair with a broken leg makes the consequence visible. There is a lesson here for leaders: when something matters, we must find ways to make people see it, not just hear about it. Whether it is an organizational problem, a social issue or a technology challenge, the difference between being heard and being ignored is sometimes finding the right way to make the message impossible to overlook. 🚀 Advancing AI Through Research, Innovation and Education I am passionate about using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve real-world problems, from sustainable energy and healthcare to education and human capacity development. I am delighted that my research team recently received an Award and Certificate of Excellence for Best Abstract in the Physical Sciences & Engineering category for our research titled: “Development of AI-Driven Digital Twin Energy Management for Sustainable Campuses” at the 8th LASU Research and Innovation Fair. This recognition builds on my journey in AI research. To mention a few, in 2024, we received a research grant under the Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research (NAIR) Scheme as Principal Investigator for the project “Wearable Sensor-Based AI System for Early Detection and Personalized Management of Lung Cancer.” In 2025, we received an international grant for Data Science and Medical Image Analysis Training for Improved Health Care Delivery in Nigeria (DATICAN), involving the University of Chicago. I have also had the privilege of sharing knowledge on AI as a keynote speaker at professional and academic platforms, including NIEEE, NSE, ICSEECR 2026, etc. as well as facilitating AI-focused workshops, trainings, and webinars, including at the Faculty of Education Annual International Conference, Lagos State University. I strongly believe that research should not end with publications and conferences. It should translate into skills, solutions, opportunities, and impact. That vision inspired DrMary Academy, a platform dedicated to helping students, researchers, professionals and entrepreneurs develop practical skills in AI, digital technologies, research and productivity, while learning how to apply and monetise these skills. Before deciding you need to earn more, take a closer look at the money you already earn. Your monthly bank statement can reveal a lot about your spending habits. Here's a simple exercise:  Review your bank statement.  Go through every transaction, including small expenses. Those ₦1,000, ₦2,000 and ₦5,000 payments can quickly add up. 2. Sort your expenses into five buckets: 📍 Savings/Investments – Money set aside for your goals. 📍 Needs – Food, rent, transport, utilities and healthcare. 📍 Wants – Shopping, entertainment and eating out.  📍 Debt – Loan repayments and other obligations.  📍 Unexpected Expenses – Emergencies, repairs and unplanned costs. 3. Identify your financial leaks. Ask yourself: * Which bucket takes the largest share of my income? * Where am I spending more than necessary? Frequent food deliveries, unused subscriptions, impulse purchases and unplanned outings may be quietly draining your finances. Once you identify these leaks, you can decide what to reduce, eliminate or redirect toward savings, investments and debt repayment. The goal isn't just to spend less. It's to make your money work more intentionally for you. 📌 ACTION: Download your latest monthly bank statement and categorise every transaction. You may be surprised by what you discover. Our first Fortinet OT Day in Mississauga was a great moment for the OT community we’ve been building in Canada. It was especially encouraging to see the room filled with customers and partners. What stood out to me was how many organizations came ready to learn more about securing their OT environments and to discuss the challenges they face. Many OT assets have long service lives and limited security built in. Fortinet can help protect these environments and put practical compensating controls around infrastructure that cannot easily be patched or replaced. Attention will be given to how AI and autonomy can enable aircraft and airspace systems to perceive changing conditions, make decisions, coordinate with one another, and work effectively with human operators. I will also share real-world demonstrations, together with recent developments, to illustrate how these concepts are transitioning from algorithms and testbeds to operational systems. 👤 About Me I bring four decades of experience in telecommunications, wireless networks, autonomous systems, and advanced aviation technologies. My current research focuses on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), autonomous aerial systems, 5G/6G and satellite communications, Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks (SAGIN), AI-enabled airspace management, and human-autonomy teaming.
