Alex Bauer hat dies geteiltAs a breath of fresh air in this age of AI LinkedIn slop, Camille is perhaps one of the greatest writers currently active in Marketing-world.Alex Bauer hat dies geteiltGot invited by the team at Upside to write a little something about how account based marketing is changing and what to do about it. I've been doing some consulting with startups, and this is coming up more and more. There are some amazing new tools for measuring and managing this sticky, subjective discipline - truly better than ever. No more including demo request and lead capture forms in your attribution models... they mean nothing. Now you can figure out what actually GOT people to submit and act/replicate plans based on that. I go into a lot of detail/examples in this article in case helpful! Many thanks to Mada Seghete and Alex Bauer for encouraging me to write about this!Upside: Finally a better way to measure and manage ABMUpside: Finally a better way to measure and manage ABMCamille Ricketts

Alex Bauer hat dies geteiltYes.Alex Bauer hat dies geteiltClaudeforce will only be successful with net-new Salesforce customers. There. I said it. Salesforce fundamentally does not understand how many of its customers actually use the platform. And the bigger problem? Salesforce doesn’t even use Salesforce internally the way it recommends its customers should. That should tell you something. The gap between “here’s how you should architect your Salesforce instance” and “here’s what happens after 7 years, 14 acquisitions, 900 custom objects, 47 integrations, three CEOs and a sales team that refuses to delete anything” is enormous. AI doesn’t magically erase that complexity. Claudeforce can be incredibly powerful for a clean, net-new implementation where the architecture, data model, processes and governance can be designed around it from day one. But dropping an AI layer onto decades of Salesforce entropy and expecting it to understand the business? Good luck. The future of enterprise AI isn’t just about making the platform smarter. It’s about understanding the absolute disaster we’ve already built on top of it. And nobody understands that disaster better than the people who have to operate it every day.

Alex Bauer hat dies repostetAlex Bauer hat dies repostetWe closed a deal this week. So obviously I celebrated by spending my evening asking Upside to investigate how Upside sold Upside. Very normal founder behavior :-p I pulled three of our recent closed deals into a miniapp I built on top of our live Pipedash data. And in all three, the cleanest hand-raise got 0% credit. A form fill: 0%. A text that literally said "we need Upside": 0%. A buyer proactively reconnecting: 0%. This might be controversial, but it's BY DESIGN. The hand-raises mattered. They told us someone was ready. They did not make them ready. I spent years as a marketer trying to prove what created pipeline, and most systems force us to give credit to what they can track cleanly: forms, campaign members, last touches. But the things that made these buyers want to talk were useful ideas, internal forwarding, product experience, trusted relationships, and timing. This is what changed for us when building Upside: we want to help our customers understand what made someone ready to raise their hand, and then do more of that. The wrong question: Which tracked activity sourced this deal? The better question: What actually made the buyer ready? If you are curious what Pipedash would find in your own deals, send me a note. I will probably build you a miniapp too :)

Alex Bauer hat dies repostetAlex Bauer hat dies repostetWhat do attribution, AI defensibility, concert piano, and unschooling have in common? 🎹 In the latest episode of It’s Giving Thought Leader—featuring Alex Bauer, the co-founder of Upside—we covered a lot of ground: ✔️ How attribution has evolved (and what hasn’t changed) ✔️ Where defensibility comes from when everyone has access to the same AI models ✔️ Why the future of measurement may require us to rethink the silos we’ve built around it ✔️ ...and the topic Alex thinks marketers aren’t thinking nearly enough about right now: whether marketing as a discipline is about to look fundamentally different. We also got into Alex’s much less conventional path to tech — from growing up unschooled in the Rocky Mountains to training as a concert pianist — and how both shaped the way he thinks about curiosity, customers, and building things today. Alex Bauer hat dies repostetAlex Bauer hat dies repostetAlex Bauer builds his whole talk on a claim that lands harder than the usual AI-safety framing: hallucination has an older sibling, and it's a trust problem. Ask Claude to report on revenue and it doesn't say "I'm not sure." It hands you a wrong answer that looks exactly like being right. "Design Patterns for AI Trust: Juries, Libraries, and Agent Tiers" is on AI Engineer's YouTube. Alex is co-founder of Upside. What you get from it: three concrete patterns his team either uses internally or ships in the product, for getting reliable output out of agents working on business data. - Manage your agents like other humans. We already know how to establish trust with people, so use that. His one practical tip is commander's intent: tell the agent why, not just what. - Don't YOLO it, scaffold first. Rebuilding the company website failed outright on a "here are the sources, go" prompt. What worked was maintaining anchor assets, including a product capabilities reference with citations back to every source system so he can check nothing was hallucinated. - A librarian sits between the user and the query. Ask "how much pipeline did we create in Q1?" and a bare agent guesses January to March on created date. The librarian holds documentation, company knowledge items, schema, and prior failed queries, so the agent learns the fiscal year actually runs February through April and new pipeline means stage two or later. - Jury and judge for questions with no empirically correct answer. Multi-touch attribution gets a team of independent analysts who each research the data and return an evidence-cited opinion. A consensus judge weighs their reasoning quality rather than treating any of it as fact, and expands the jury if consensus is thin. - Agent tiers, because you can't fix stupid. AI features crowbarred into a pre-AI subscription price don't leave margin for an intelligent reasoning model. He hooked Slackbot's new MCP client up to the librarian and found it unusable. Tier two means a powerful model with sub-agents, plan mode, full MCP support, and file editing. - Go-to-market teams were never dense with builders. The toolbox was spreadsheets and slides. Alex describes AI as doing for building what the bicycle did for mobility, which puts implementation in reach of the people closest to the problem. I'm working through the published talks from AI Engineer World's Fair sharing summaries and takeaways. Follow for more!

Alex Bauer gefällt dasAlex Bauer gefällt dasI’ve been posting on Linkedin for 10 years. I only got Top Voice after I started posting sleeveless running pics showing my massive arms, which I lovingly refer to as “The Guns of Navarone”. Today, I gotta sell the last few tickets for Pavilion’s GTM2026 so I’m sharing a picture of me and William Wang from Centralize doing our cold plunge in Austin a few years ago. We're running it back this year with Christopher Gannon and his team on Wednesday morning. Join us for this reason. But also join us because we're celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Pavilion, we've helped over 30K people improve their lives and careers, and because you can download the new GMT Concierge Skill that Amos helped me make and it will auto-plan your entire itinerary. My flight leaves tomorrow from Spain. Let's cross our fingers I can avoid the Nor'easter enough to arrive safely. PS I'm kidding about my arms. If you want the real deal, follow Max on IG. He’s truly chiseled. Although I have to think I can still outrun him since he golfs and I do cardio. So if the zombies came, I think cardio and endurance sports are still optimal relative to totally shredded pecs and biceps. Regardless, we have to tip our hat to Max for crushing life so completely. Ok bye.

Alex Bauer hat darauf reagiertAlex Bauer hat darauf reagiertIt's really hard to make friends later in life but from our first Zoom two years ago i knew she won't be able to escape me . Why? She cares about all the things I care about in a very unusual way I've seen her cheer on her competitors. In a cut throat capitalist system that prioritizes financial gains that's unusual. I do it too because i know behind the "company" names we're all humans and I appreciate all humans beings . But i know few humans are capable of this kind of sportsmanship in business I've seen her bring together communities (she organizes woman founder, all founder and all GTM events) in a very unique way. She makes everyone feel equal. No rankings despite their different titles or financial growth trajectory. She also makes people feel seen as they are. As a result people leave with a lot more friends then when they arrive I've seen her giving permission to humans to be themselves. By allowing herself to open up about her struggles they follow suit. Everyone feels at ease around her and that's a beautiful gift I rarely see as well She worked 10 years as a co-founder at Branch focused on b2c marketing attribution valued at 4Bn. Now she builds the data layer for b2b because she knows all the problems and she's the most plugged in the ai ecosystem She goes by Mada Seghete but her actual , longer name in romanian, is Madalina. as in MAD ALINA. And I love that because she's representative of all the good things around being "mad". She's always "crazy" in that she brings the most creative ideas to surface. She's by far one of the most creative marketer there is. And always "enthusiastic" about things that normal humans don't normally get enthusiastic about Like for instance last week she wrote a book about dragons and attribution. I thought i'd be cheesy but it's actually one of the most whimsical book there is on marketing Go grab it and read it to your kids tonight https://amzn.to/47kBmCe

Alex Bauer gefällt dasAlex Bauer gefällt das2 weeks ago, I announced my departure from HockeyStack. Dozens of people DM’d me to ask what I’ve been up to since I left. They were suprised when I told them I went full Bryan Johnson #DontDie. First of all, thank you everybody for all the support. Dozens of people DM'd, texted, and called. It was amazing to see how many people were following my journey and getting inspired along the way. The first thing I did when I left HockeyStack was make a list of changes I need to make to my life, routines, and body before starting my next company. After 3 years in the trenches I had let my health go to shit. I was so overly focused on growth and revenue, I completely neglected my health. Since leaving HS: - I’ve done blood, sleep, and body tests - Lost 23 lbs - yes peptides work - Fixed my sleep - turns out I’ve been living with sleep apnea It’s been so suprising how much clearer I can think when I feel rested in the mornings, don’t feel fat, and know I can be on my A-game every day. I’m not just doing this for myself. I owe the best possible version of myself to my team, co-founder, and investors because there is a huge idea that has been haunting me… Every trip, every dinner, every founder call, every blood test, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I’m building next. It’s way bigger than anything else I’ve worked on, and I’m so excited to be building this very special company. For everyone about to ask about the sleep apnea: get tested. I put it off for two years because I was "too busy." Sleeping with a CPAP machine is way better than waking up tired every day.

Alex Bauer gefällt dasAlex Bauer gefällt dasEmail is basically ruined as a channel, and LinkedIn DMs aren't too far behind. AI has made it too easy for marketers to flood the zone with AI-generated output and now anyone can generate thousands of "personalized" outreach messages in the time it used to take a human to write ten. This is why the phrase "AI slop cannon" exists. Buyers have developed banner blindness for anything that smells automated. Plenty of platforms (ex. Claude, LinkedIn, Substack) are investing in some form of AI detection or watermarking but IMHO it's a symptom of the problem, not a fix for it. The fact that AI was used to create something isn't in and of itself a problem. The real issue is that so much of the output we're creating with AI isn't actually helpful. But marketers are playing a numbers game - crossing their fingers and hoping MORE emails, MORE LinkedIn DMs, MORE blogs, etc. will make up for the lack of quality and precision. And in some cases, I'm sure it's working. Send a million cold emails and some of them are bound to get a response. But at what cost? It's a scorched earth approach to marketing, and it's hurting all of us. That's why brand is having a renaissance right now. It's the one thing the slop cannon can't fake. Old math: more volume wins. New math: the brand people trust wins. We've got to stop the madness. I love AI as much as (if not more than) the next person, but from where I'm sitting, the most impactful campaigns and channels are the ones that put humans at the center, not AI. **rant over** #AI #Marketing #Kathleenhq

A company can publish beautiful values statements and still create measurable harm. A government can launch compassionate programs and still fail the people who need them most. The gap between intention and impact is where things get interesting. GTM goals for early stage technical companies: 1. Be referenced often in internal meetings of your prospects (exploratory phase of adoption) 2. Be referenced often in externally facing architecture diagrams of the top companies in your market (first path to production + PMF) 3. Be endorsed often in communities as experts/influencers see 1 + 2 appear without your promotion (your real ARR + NRR story happens here) 4. Be endorsed as the gold standard by communities (moat, hang on for dear life and keep shipping and making money) #2 is v hard as things shift often, but Founder time should be with customers to make this occur as often as possible. #3 + #4 become your roadshow focus over time so you can scale your company.

OpenAI just lost its COO, its AGI CEO is on medical leave, and its CMO is stepping down — all at the same time. 🚨 Let that sink in. This isn't a minor reshuffle. This is the leadership team of the most talked-about AI company in the world shifting dramatically — right in the middle of its most critical growth phase. Here's what's actually happening: 🔹 COO Brad Lightcap is out of his role, moving to lead "special projects" reporting directly to Sam Altman. 🔹 CEO of AGI Development Fidji Simo is taking medical leave for several weeks due to a neuroimmune condition — with co-founder Greg Brockman stepping in to manage product. 🔹 CMO Kate Rouch is stepping down to focus on her cancer recovery. 🔹 Former Slack CEO Denise Dresser absorbs commercial duties. OpenAI says it has "continuity and momentum" — and with nearly 1 billion users and strong enterprise growth, the numbers back that up. But here's the real lesson for every leader and organization watching this unfold: Strong systems outlast strong individuals. The companies that scale aren't the ones that depend on any single person — they're the ones that build deep enough benches, clear enough processes, and resilient enough cultures to keep moving no matter what. OpenAI is stress-testing that theory in real time. Whether this is a sign of cracks at the top or simply the growing pains of a company moving faster than any org chart can keep up with — only time will tell. What's your read on this? Is this a red flag for OpenAI, or proof that great organizations can weather any storm? 👇 Drop your thoughts below. 🔗 Full story via TechCrunch: https://lnkd.in/dZW-JWAK

The role of the creative leader is shifting in 2026. From head of a services org --> to a strategic partner shaping how companies show up in the world. Creatives often spend their days buried in one-off creative requests submitted through company-wide ticketing systems: regional edits internal demos last-minute launch tweaks minor copy or format changes Enterprises built these workflows to maintain control over brand, messaging and quality. But in doing so, the work of creative teams shifted from setting direction to clearing queues. Those days are coming to an end. The irony is, the best creative leaders don’t actually want to create every asset. What they want is confidence that when other teams create those assets across the organization, they still reflect what they care about: the brand the message the standards And they’re starting to realize something important: The future isn’t “the creative team does all the work.” The future is “the creative team provides the context for all the work.” In practice, that means creative teams own things like: the rules (what “good” looks like for your brand) the motion language and visual system the guardrails that shape how AI and non-experts create on-brand content When you have that kind of system, the right outcome becomes the default.

The United States Departmemt of Labor released a national AI Literacy Framework on February 13. A lot of people missed it. Five content areas. Seven delivery principles. A federal blueprint for workforce AI readiness. The framework emphasizes hands-on learning over abstract theory. It calls for equitable access across frontline workers, rural communities, older Americans, and people with disabilities. It positions AI as a tool that creates opportunity when people have the right skills and support. Here is what enterprise leaders should notice. The five content areas: understand AI principles, explore AI uses, direct AI effectively, evaluate AI outputs, use AI responsibly. Every one of those requires human judgment. Human context. Human accountability. Technology adoption without workforce investment is a liability. This framework recognizes that the people operating your systems determine whether AI delivers value or destroys trust. The global implications are significant. This is a U.S. framework. But the world's largest economy defining AI literacy will shape training programs, funding decisions, and educational policy far beyond American borders. Other governments will benchmark against this. Multinational companies will adopt similar structures across regions. The standard just got set. Every enterprise leader should read it. Every board should discuss what it means for their workforce strategy. Your people are the architecture. Invest accordingly. #AILiteracy #WorkforceDevelopment #AI #EnterpriseStrategy #HawksmoorAI

Most Seattle-area businesses are invisible to the customers standing closest to them. Not because they're bad at what they do. Because "near me" is a technical problem disguised as a marketing one. Three things I see get missed constantly: Your Google Business Profile outranks your website for most local searches. It's the storefront. Treat it like one — real photos, accurate categories, hours that are actually right, and a repeatable process for asking happy customers to leave a review. Service-area pages only work when they're genuinely about the area. Swapping a city name into the same paragraph is a doorway page, and Google has been ignoring those for years. Real local pages reference real projects, real neighborhoods, real conditions. Consistency across the web matters more than volume. Your name, address, and phone number rendered identically everywhere beats fifty sloppy directory listings. None of this is glamorous. All of it compounds. Full playbook: https://lnkd.in/gsxjGeUA If you're serving the Eastside and not showing up in the map pack, it's usually one of these three. Happy to point you at which. #LocalSEO #SeattleBusiness #SmallBusinessGrowth #SEO
