One of the most important conversations I have with enterprise brands is about platform fit, not just what a tool can do, but whether it matches how their team actually works. The AEM vs. Contentful decision is a perfect example. I talk to brands running AEM who assumed it was the only "enterprise-grade" option. They're paying for the full Adobe ecosystem, but really only using it as a CMS. The integration overhead, the launch timelines, the performance workarounds, these are all things they've just accepted as the cost of doing business at scale. Then they see what Contentful looks like in production: weeks to launch a new brand site instead of months. Clean SAP Hybris integration without maintaining a sync connector. Green Core Web Vitals without complex caching rules. The right answer isn't always Contentful. If a brand is genuinely leveraging Adobe's personalization and campaign tools at scale, AEM earns its complexity. But the right answer is always asking the question honestly.
