Heard, Not Hidden - Out of Office ✌️ Last week, we stepped away from our screens and took Heard, Not Hidden: Changing the Story of Women in Justice out into the community. Posters in hand, Kelly, Caz and Georgie spent the day visiting some brilliant organisations across Southampton and Portsmouth, meeting people working with women in justice and having some really valuable conversations along the way. Our aim? To bring as many voices into the conversation as possible, making it richer, wider and a little louder 📣 This project was never intended to be shaped by us alone. We want to hear from people with different experiences, roles and viewpoints about how women in justice are seen, understood and treated and what needs to change. Today I present at the Council of Europe regional awareness conference on women's empowerment and reintegration. This is a passion project as I focus my efforts more and more on cultural change for women in justice. And part of that is raising awareness. Today I'm discussing women entering employment in Turkey. I love this project for many reasons. The team I work with are passionate, like minded people and the opportunity to apply systems thinking to prison reform is challenging yet rewarding.

Finding work, securing a safe place to live, rebuilding relationships, and regaining a sense of purpose can be difficult without the right support. Out of prison. Into uncertainty. For many people, release brings more questions than answers. Where will I stay? How will I find work? How will I support myself? Can I rebuild my relationships? What do I do next? Who can I turn to? Leaving prison is a major transition, but the uncertainty that follows can be overwhelming. The journey doesn’t end at the prison gates.
