A bit late to the party but I wanted to share my experience of a conference I got to go to. As a child of immigrants (many of my connections can relate) especially one that grew up in a small town, my family vacations were limited to mostly two locations: Calgary and Vancouver to visit family. Fast forward to today, I was recently invited to an exclusive event in beautiful Napa Valley where 50 of the largest moving companies in North America met to discuss the future of moving. I had only heard of Napa Valley in TV shows and Movies, I never would have imagined I would have got to go there growing up. It was one of the best conferences I've ever had the opportunity to attend and it was by and large some of the best networking I have done to date. It serves as such a great reminder to me how important meeting in person and networking is and also how important it is to talk to other moving companies in this space. Sure, we might be competitors, but we can also work together to drive the industry forward and that's what I felt we were doing when I got there. I just want to express my gratitude for the invitation to Wonjun Jeong, 👋 Mark Miyashita and their team. Special shoutout to Eugene Ling for sending me the invitation. AI will transform the moving industry, just like all others. I’ve spent the past few months talking about it at every industry event I could. Two weeks ago in Napa, the industry has already turned a corner. We hosted a private summit with leaders from 50 of the largest and most forward-thinking movers and van lines. Being there and hearing how seriously they’re thinking about the next decade made me incredibly optimistic about where this industry is heading. Yesterday I had the privilege of showing up for Move For Hunger and going over the edge of the Omni Hotel in the name of fighting hunger. Theres no better way to represent my team at Supermove than pushing through fear and executing a mission. I’m not going to lie…I was scared. Really scared. But that fear is nothing compared to the fear thousands of families face every night when they go to bed without knowing where their next meal is coming from. Together, we pushed past our comfort zones, packed meals, and helped raise the equivalent of 680,000+ meals for the Tennessee community. It was one of the best events I've been to, not just in the moving industry, but one of the best events in my 25-year career." — Walter Myers, President of Suddath Moving & Storage Two weeks ago, we did something the moving industry has never seen before. We hosted an intimate, invite-only leadership summit in Napa Valley. 37 of the 50 biggest moving company owners and executives got together in one beautiful resort to meet each other and openly talk about where the industry's going. We had both independents and van line agents, and the speaker lineup was nothing like a typical moving event. We mixed industry voices like Lacy Brakefield and Tim Wicker with leaders from Nike, DoorDash, Andreessen Horowitz, and our founders. The conversations were on a level you rarely hear in this industry. It was surreal. Thank you to everyone who attended. You made it special!
