AI can handle a lot of IT work, but it can only take you so far. Not everything has an API, and the ones that exist don't always behave. Even the very best automation eventually hits a corner case it can't handle on its own. That's why companies need to go into AI automation with eyes wide open. "They're saying they're from Portland, but they're running an IP royal proxy — and there's never a real good reason to run it." Georgeo X. Pulikkathara , Global CIO and CISO at iMerit Technology, saw threat detections spike the week after an AI company came on as a client: North Korean threat actors running IP proxies and face-swapper AI to get through hiring. The problem is, most HR departments check a driver's license and move on. They're not built to detect a proxy or an AI-generated face. Georgeo's fix was identity verification controls layered into the hiring process — and when his HR team says "turn that off and let's talk," the fake candidates simply disappear. He then takes those risks straight to the board: not as abstract scores, but as specific incidents tied to real client work. Every IT request handled by an AI agent starts with a plan. In month one of our recent study, those plans averaged 18 steps. By month three ... 13. That's because the system got smarter — learning which steps were actually necessary and which were hedges against uncertainty that had already been resolved. Meanwhile, the share of AI-executed actions rose from 23% to 41% during that same timeframe. Less hedging, more doing. It's one of the clearest signs in our data that agentic AI isn't a static deployment. It's a system that improves as it learns your environment. Fixify turns 3 today. 🎂 Three years ago, we set out to fix something that's been neglected in IT for a long time — the help desk. It's the part of IT that everyone relies on, yet nobody wants to think about until something goes wrong. A lot has changed in the last 3 years. The team has grown, the product has expanded, and the conversation around AI in IT has evolved faster than anyone predicted. What hasn't changed is the belief that the best IT support combines smart technology with people who actually care.
