The AI arms race is becoming a talent arms race, and HR teams might want to check their comp budgets. As frontier AI labs compete for top technologists, other employers are finding themselves in the same bidding wars, with some salary expectations doubling or even tripling. Turns out AI isn't just changing how people work, it's changing what companies have to pay to get them there.

  • Iced coffee is causing workplace drama!! The internet is currently VERY divided over whether showing up to a job interview with a drink in hand is unprofessional. One side says: Drop it in the trash before you walk in. The other side says: You all need to chill out. Anyway, we need to hear from you...

  • Our data shows employee happiness is up. But who’s getting left behind? 😢 Younger employees: Ages 26–30 have an eNPS of just 31, compared to 48 for employees ages 51–60. 😭 The 2–3 year crowd: Employees in this tenure range have an eNPS of 33, compared to 51 for new hires. 😿 Tech workers: Tech is the only industry we tracked still in a sustained decline, dropping from an eNPS of 42 in 2023 to 37 in 2026. When Rebecca and I met at SHRM, it was clear Forest Home had changed and grown in ways that created new friction. As we spoke, I knew Katy Huston, PHR-CA, SHRM-CP and team could leverage BHR Expert Services as an extra set of hands to help Rebecca Lewis find new ways of working to simplify and free up space and time for her team! So fun to fast forward a few months and hear how things are going!

    HR Generalist at Forest Home

I've been at Forest Home for over 10 years, and in HR for the last 4. Until recently, I’ve been an HR team of one. If there’s a way to make a process simpler, save time, or avoid unnecessary risk, I want to find it. Not just because it makes my job easier, but because that time and money can go back into supporting our mission and the families and campers we serve. This last June at the SHRM conference I met Katy Huston, PHR-CA, SHRM-CP. Katy helped me realize I wasn't using all that BambooHR had to offer and was making things harder than they needed to be. That’s one of the big reasons I started working with BambooHR Expert Services. I’ve been working with one of their HR experts to dig into our payroll processes and identify what is working, what could be simpler, and where we might be making things harder than they need to be. It has been so helpful to have a BambooHR expert show me ways to improve. When you’ve been doing something a certain way for a long time, sometimes you just need a fresh set of eyes to ask, ‘Have you thought about doing it this way?’ Those small changes can add up. I’m grateful to have BambooHR Expert Services in my corner, helping us spend less time on processes and more time on what matters.

How do you grow without losing the things that made your company great in the first place? Vanessa Brulotte and Monica Cummings dove right into it at our latest People People Tour stop in Indianapolis! They broke down four things to keep in mind when trying to preserve a great employee experience in times of growth: voice, connection, clarity, and simplicity. Monica dug deeper into voice and shared a great question: Am I advocating for what the business needs, or have I become attached to my preferred answer? Vanessa brought it back to the bigger picture and how, as companies grow, a lot of the context that used to come naturally can start to disappear. People need to know who owns what, where to go for answers, what the data is actually telling them, and most importantly, what to do with it. Thanks to everyone who joined us in Indy and made it such a great event!! 🤠
