In my day job, I’m a DevOps engineer in a central team that provides Jenkins and other DevOps tooling.
Agent ecosystem overview The second blog post focused on one specific part of your Kubernetes environment. I felt the urge to write more about it, so I thought a post about agents and managing them would be a good follow-up. Our agents include: 200 user-managed agents running on Windows and Linux 100,000 Kubernetes pods created each month Every Jenkins agent runs on Java 21. The agents User-managed agents Users...
Jenkins Kubernetes setup As a team, we introduced Jenkins Kubernetes for every user a few months ago. Our goal was to make it easy to get started with Jenkins — no need for your own agent. We prepared guides on how to use it, which tools are already included in the image used by the pod (maintained by us). A few nodes are always...

Both run on a commercially supported Linux distribution, normally on the latest LTS version, with around 200 plugins installed. Production runs more than 6,000 builds every...
Welcome back to the Plugin of the Month series, where we highlight useful and impactful plugins from the Jenkins ecosystem. For June 2026, we’re featuring the Build Discarder Plugin. Do you maintain a Jenkins server with thousands of active users? And even more builds? Spring cleaning? Or you just want to keep things neat and tidy? A global configuration for your build items...
In this post, we share our experience upgrading Jenkins from Java 17 to Java 21 and the impact this had on memory usage. After the move, we observed a reduction in out-of-the-field memory consumption from a monthly mean of 33–34 GB down to 28 GB. This improvement helped us reduce operational pressure and improve overall efficiency in our Jenkins environment. Why we upgraded...
