Tom Wendt is a leader in our Automotive & Mobility practice, specializing at the intersection of automotive, technology, venture capital, and large-scale business transformations. He leads Bain’s work with global automotive suppliers, collaborates with leading OEMs, and advises mobility-focused enterprises worldwide. Tom is also a recognized expert within the firm’s Strategy and Performance Improvement practice areas.
Tom has more than 20 years of experience in business transformation, corporate strategy and performance improvement programs. He is passionate about the industry, the future of mobility and the evolution of how vehicles are designed, built, sold, and used.
With extensive experience in corporate venture capital and innovation, Tom has supported and mentored founders, executive teams, and global corporations to unlock their full potential and reshape industries. He sits on the advisory boards of Energy Impact Partners and MIP and Next Future Transportation Inc.
Prior to joining Bain, Tom co-led the North American automotive practice at a leading global strategy consultancy and co-founded Icebreaker Ventures and the Autonomous World Fund—a pioneering multi-corporate strategic venture capital fund focused on autonomous, connected, electrified, and shared mobility solutions.
Tom holds an MBA, an MS in mechanical engineering, and a BSc from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany, and has completed the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School.
