Tim Smith shared thisJames Sibley did an amazing job of sharing his lived experience with neurodiversity in Dublin last week! He was articulate and entertaining, and I think he made everyone in the room think a little differently. Great job James!Tim Smith shared thisLast week, I had the privilege of attending a summit for Microsoft managers and leaders in Dublin, where I gave a talk on neurodivergence in the workplace - a topic that's deeply personal and close to my heart. I shared my own journey of neurodivergence, from the challenges I faced growing up to how these challenges manifest in the workplace today. It was an incredible experience to stand in front of such an influential group of people at Microsoft and feel their genuine interest and engagement on this important topic. Seeing how much the audience cared and how it resonated with certain individuals gave the experience an even greater sense of purpose. I won’t lie ... I was pretty nervous beforehand! But the experience turned out to be incredibly positive, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important conversation. It was also great to hear from other speakers and gain insights into the types of discussions happening within Microsoft’s leadership. A big shout-out to Tim Smith and Arshiya P., who also presented on the topic and brought valuable perspectives! And a quick side note - the Dublin office is awesome! Definitely hoping to go back soon. 😊 As ADHD Awareness Month is here, it's a timely reminder of how important these types of conversations are. I’m excited to keep pushing for more inclusivity and understanding in the workplace. #Neurodiversity #ADHD #ASD #Inclusion #Microsoft #ADHDAwarenessMonth

Tim Smith shared thisThis is an amazing video by an amazing guy about his amazing son. Being on the spectrum myself, this is a great reflection of both the diversity and positivity of this community. Please be sure to watch and support the Color the Spectrum livestream on the 30th of April and support Next for Autism, which is a great organisation, doing really important work (or your local Autism support charity). I will add some links in the comments.

Tim Smith liked thisTim Smith liked thisCan you spot the thing that made me double take at lunchtime? 👀 I don’t work on packaging much these days, but once you’ve done it, you never really stop analysing what’s on the shelf. I spotted this in Waitrose & Partners at lunchtime and couldn’t unsee it. My instinct would have been to make “Halloumi” the hero, but then I wondered if the prominence of the PDO mark was a deliberate decision to sell authenticity rather than the product itself. It’s a reminder that packaging hierarchy is rarely accidental, especially for a brand like Waitrose. Not sure if was just my baby brain reading it wrong... did you read it the same way? 💩

Tim Smith liked thisIn conversations with leaders across the education sector, a consistent theme comes up. It’s not a lack of data, it’s the challenge of turning it into timely, actionable insight. Too often, critical information sits in silos, limiting visibility and slowing down action. Today’s launch of Tes360 changes that. By connecting systems and surfacing the right insights to the right people, we’re helping schools work more efficiently and ultimately deliver better outcomes for their pupils. For us, this is about delivering real, measurable value to our customers. Not by adding more tools, but by making everything work better together. We can’t wait to introduce it to our customers around the globe! Tim Smith liked thisTim Smith liked thisAfter completing the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Mediator Skills Training in January (which I highly recommend), I spent a day observing Roger Levitt mediate a complex property dispute. What looked impossible at 11am ended with parties signing a settlement agreement before 6pm. Roger navigated the issues calmly and robustly - a great day's work and it was satisfying to see what was years of battling between the parties put to rest with this powerful process. As I roll out independent governance services with existing clients, my pursuit is to apply the principles that resolve disputes further upstream in live complex project environments. How you do things from the start - and when things start to go wrong - has a material impact on where you end up. Who would have guessed! I'll be posting in the coming weeks around themes of decision-making, managing people and complexity in project environments and systems-design from what I learnt (and continue to learn) from over a decade of project management. I'm curious to share notes with anyone with an interest in dispute-focused governance and mediation in live major project environments - including built-in mechanisms like dispute boards. If your eyes haven't already glazed over and you're one of the odd people that enjoy these kinds of problems, then I'm always open to a conversation. #projectmediation #governance #disputeprevention #disputeresolution #projectmanagement

Tim Smith liked thisTim Smith liked thisI LOVE the new LinkedIn Slop Score feature. Not sure it's released to everyone, but it's so cool to have each post scored and filtered on the likelihood that content was generated by AI. Brilliant! Gives me so much more focus on the real professional insights and network that I love about LinkedIn. Ok... so it's not a new feature, sorry, but I so wish it was. LinkedIn is brilliant and many of us have relied on it for much of our professional careers. But these days, I have to spend so much time filtering out content with low nutritional value that it's becoming a drag. I know I'm not alone. I get why people might publish content that's mostly AI and I'm not judging. I promise, it's just not my taste. But please, please LinkedIn, give us a slop score and a filter under our control. Then we can continue to use LinkedIn for what it's so great at: professional networking and relevant, insightful content. I know such a filter can't be perfect, but without it, LinkedIn is becoming less and less valuable. I don't know of any other way to get to the product managers of LinkedIn than through engagement on a post, so if you agree, please do click and comment so the algorithm can do it's stuff and bring it to their attention. And don't think I miss the irony of using Gemini to create the image - I'd so love this post to get a high slop score as a result so you could all filter it out! But please LinkedIn, give us some control.

Tim Smith liked thisTim Smith liked thisI left Boston 32 years ago for warmer weather and a new chapter, transferring schools in the process. Earlier this month I was back, not for me, but for my son, dropping him off at college, his second stop. He has left that warm weather behind for something different. This return is filled with echoes of my past. The colors of the T — red, orange, green — come rushing back. The Fenway stop I once knew so well, the place I stumbled toward after games, is now just down the street from his campus apartment. The streets still feel familiar, though I knew them as a different version of myself. Perhaps a similar version he is about to step into. I survived those uneven streets three decades ago. The city demanded strength then, and it still does now. But it was different, or maybe that is just what age whispers when we look back. Different, yet not at all. Either way, I know he will be fine. He will find his way, passing the same landmarks I once did, creating his own story on the same streets where my young adulthood took shape. We left Boston minus one. That was the plan all along, clearing a path for him to walk. I never could have imagined, thirty-two years ago, that he would be walking on cobblestone.

Tim Smith reacted on thisTim Smith reacted on thisIs it easier to say nothing? I've bitten my tongue so many times I'm quite sure it is not. Saying the kind, compassionate, helpful, loving thing IS the right thing to say - and that requires empathy and listening with intent. We all, as US and global citizens SHOULD (a word I don't use lightly) aspire to do this, ALWAYS. Today is September 11th. I'm in Reykjavik and happen to be across the street from the US Embassy. The flag is flying at half-staff, in theory memorializing September 11th uniquely. But unfortunately, it's flying at half-staff for another reason too: the political violence yesterday. My friends, we MUST NOT (a phrase I don't use lightly) normalize violence. I did not agree with Charlie Kirk on almost everything (except I love Jesus, as did he <I understand>). But a political disagreement should not have cost his life. Nor the lives of Melissa Hortmann and her husband, nor the lives of countless others. Please, please, please find decency in discourse, turn down the rhetoric, find the goodness, the kindness, the love of others ... please take action today vs. waiting for leaders to do it first because YOU ARE a leader in so many ways! Please pray for Charlie Kirk's wife and 2 little children. Thank you and Love to you all!

QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey • 3K followers
Everyone says the answer to AI in software is to rewire the workflow. True - but not precise and clear enough to be actionable. 25% of software leaders report their teams genuinely speeding up. 30% report them getting slower. Same tools, same advice, opposite outcomes. New research from my QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey colleagues Charlotte Relyea, Gautam Lunawat and team digs into why. Some examples of what "rewiring" means in real life: Killing the legacy hand-offs. Designer hands to developer, developer hands to tester, each waiting on the last. Agents collapse the building to minutes and leave the waiting exactly where it was. Better: designer and engineer write the acceptance criteria and the tests together, before anything is built. The tests become the brief, and agents work against them overnight. Write down what an agent may do without asking. Free rein on test coverage, dependency bumps, refactors and docs. A named human on anything touching auth, payments, pricing, personal data or a schema migration. And no agent approves its own pull request. Keep the slices small. If a change takes more than twenty minutes to review, it is too big to hand to an agent. You will spend the time you saved arguing about a 900-line diff. Full report below and worth the time. The team puts the prize at around $0.8 trillion across the world's 30 million engineers, which is the GDP of a midsize economy sitting inside how software gets built. #AI #AgenticAI #ProductDevelopment #McKinsey #QuantumBlack

We’re delighted to announce that Marina Traversari has joined Vizibli as Chair of the Board. Marina brings considerable experience of working with companies such as Meta, Oracle and most recently as a Director of Sage (FTSE100) following its acquisition of Spherics. Previously Marina chaired GapSquare, a data equity venture acquired by LexisNexis. With Marina on board, Vizibli can accelerate its vision of transforming sustainability from a highly manual reporting burden into commercial advantage for SMEs in the supply chain and their advisors. Vizibli’s AI first platform converts operational data into measurable impact - helping companies to protect and grow margins, identify savings and comply with legislation. Vizibli also partners with accountants, consultants and service providers to deliver more impact to more customers in less time - with resultant increase in recurring revenues and profitability. 🚀 We look forward to the next exciting phase of Vizibli’s growth. #sustainability #AI #climatetech #growth

This is an encouraging example of how AI could help UK government departments address the scale of its legacy technology challenge. https://lnkd.in/eHxEasbw The headline result is striking: work expected to take nine months was reportedly completed in four weeks. As this was an early trial, the result will need to be tested across different systems and organisations. However, the most useful insight is that Defra’s teams were able to adopt the approach and continue the work without ongoing support from DSIT. That suggests the benefit came from combining AI with people, established working practices and organisational knowledge. I hope these trials are taken forward with a focus on outcomes such as safer and more reliable services, reduced technical debt, quicker delivery of improvements and better use of scarce digital skills. Tools such as #PegaBlueprint and the Generative AI Assistant in Infinity ’26 could form part of that approach by helping teams understand existing services, redesign processes and move more efficiently from an idea into delivery. The real measure of success will be whether these approaches create a repeatable and governed modernisation capability across government, while maintaining security, service continuity and human accountability. This is a promising start. The next step is to build the evidence base and share the lessons openly across the public sector. #PublicSectorTransformation #LegacyModernisation #ResponsibleAI #DigitalGovernment
