The FDA has granted RMAT designation to EG110A, following encouraging early clinical results in people with spinal cord injury and neurogenic detrusor overactivity. The designation reflects preliminary clinical evidence of meaningful potential and creates a closer path of interaction with the FDA as the programme advances. For us at SCI Ventures, this also speaks to significant regulatory tailwind in a much broader investment thesis including bladder, bowel, sexual autonomic function as well as pain, sleep and psychiatry: outcomes that can fundamentally change independence and quality of life. We believe the next generation of SCI therapeutics will increasingly move from managing complications to repairing, restoring and re-engineering neurological function. MouthPad is like a non-invasive BCI - but instead of using brain signals, it is controlled by a fine grid of sensors placed at the roof of your mouth (like a removable retainer) responding to tiny tongue movements. The technology enables people with paralysis to control phones and computers and even rejoin the workforce. Early users are already relying on it for up to 16 hours a day for work, studying, gaming and various everyday tasks that many of us take for granted. The launch follows a pre-regestered waiting list of thousands of people in the US and dozens of beta-users across the world. This financing will support the continued clinical development of EG110A for severe chronic neuro-urological disorders, while also expanding on POC in other indications and accelerating the expansion of the HERMES non-replicating HSV-1 platform. A strong validation for the innovation coming out of SCI Ventures's ecosystem. What Serapta (Elevidys) did for Duchenne or Vertex (Kalydeco) did for CF, is what NervGen Pharma Corp. may accomplish for the 20M people living with chronic SCI: validating a major unserved indication for patient benefit and VC investment. Not because the carbon project doesn’t work. But because most projects aren’t designed with commercial and financial rigor from the start. They’re retrofitted after the fact, and by then it’s often too late. We built Residual to change that and to develop carbon projects the way serious infrastructure projects are created: with the methodology, documentation, and financial structure that meet the bar for the people who need to deploy capital and sign offtakes. This video is the clearest we’ve been able to put it. I hope it’s useful for anyone in this industry thinking about what quality in carbon project development looks like.

I still get chills hearing firsthand accounts from Leslie and others of how the peptide I named ISP, now known as NVG-291, has improved the lives and independence of people enrolled in the NervGen clinical trials. Seeing a discovery that began with us as students of the Jerry Silver lab at CWRU reach patients; and hearing directly what that can mean for them; is difficult to put into words. The Scherb family, Henry Scherb Suzy Scherb and Clay, inspire me with their determination, advocacy, and drive to move the field forward. This was an incredible event. Roman Rothaermel, PhD liked thisRoman Rothaermel, PhD liked thisI am happy to share that I've moved to New York and will start working onsite this week as a senior mechanical engineer at Precision Neuroscience. Almost 12 years ago, I left my hometown Hangzhou for Southern California and had to start learning in a completely new environment. The incredible people I met at Northwood High School, UC Santa Barbara, and USC broadened my view of the world in every way. Today, right after finishing my PhD, I get to start again — a new city and a new field. The technology developed at Precision is incredible and visionary. It will not only treat a wide range of neurological conditions, but also in the long run change how people understand and interact with the world. I'm glad I get to be part of it. I want to thank Jeremy Zadek for guiding me through the hiring process, and Adam Poole and Tyler Dean for believing in me. I am excited to start this new chapter and work with a great team!

This time, it's Precision Neuroscience. Precision has closed an oversubscribed $250 million Series D, taking its total funding to $430 million. The round was led by Pershing Square, the Ackman Oxman Institute and a leading life sciences investment fund. Led by CEO Michael Mager, Precision is developing the Layer 7 Cortical Interface - a thin-film electrode array designed to sit on the surface of the brain rather than penetrate brain tissue. The technology received FDA 510(k) clearance in April 2025 for temporary use for up to 30 days, and earlier this year Precision announced a partnership with Medtronic. $250M is a huge raise and another example of the level of investment we're now seeing move into BCI. Search Engines and LLMs have value because they are the origin point of the query. If you don’t have to manually enter the query though typing or voice the starting line for who gets to keep the finders fee moves. First to consciencess thought and eventually to subconscious preawareness. All queries are a cry for help to reduce “suffering”, an attempt to augment our domain over reality QUICKER. First principles: recognition and context in brains and AIs always precedes query.

They're tackling the crazy high cost of clinical trials by using LLMs to make planning quicker, saving tons of money by stopping mid-trial protocol changes. After a seed round in mid-to-late 2024 and super-fast commercial growth last year, his company just landed the second biggest Series A in Iberian history, a massive $52.5 million!
