Jim Hilton liked thisJim Hilton liked thisI finished full-time corporate life just over 13 months ago and life’s journey has certainly taken a different path since then. Nine months ago I competed in my first Hyrox doubles event and we ended up the winners in our age category. We then replicated the same result again in London in March. Subsequently I received the honour of an invite to the World Championships in Stockholm. From over 1,000,000 plus HYROX athletes in the 25/26 Hyrox Season, only the top 0.5% are invited. This weekend I competed amongst the best in the world and met some truly inspirational people. I had never envisaged myself doing anything like this, but it just goes to show with focus, tenacity, planning and preparation, as hopefully demonstrated through my professional sales career, anything can be achieved. Especially with the support of others! It also reminds me of the poem my late grandmother had framed on her wall, which I would read upon visiting her: “It Couldn’t Be Done” by Edgar Albert Guest.

The people, the calming atmosphere, the crystal-clear water, the sunsets, everything was phenomenal. Being recognised alongside so many talented colleagues from across the business was both humbling and inspiring. One of the highlights of the trip was receiving the FY26 Value Engineer of the Year award. It was a proud moment, and one that I’m incredibly grateful for. Thank you Humam Jumaa for the recognition 🫶 BMC truly went above and beyond. Whilst the award itself means a great deal, it represents something much bigger - the people, partnerships, collaboration and support that make achievements like this possible. What I’ll remember most, though, are the connections made throughout the week. From spending time with colleagues from around the world and sharing stories and experiences, to finally having the opportunity to meet and reconnect with members of the Enterprise team, the week was a reminder of just how fortunate we are to work alongside such talented people. A huge thank you to Marcel Van der Toom and Manuel Moreno for your guidance and support, and to Stephen William Verderber and Melanie Vogel for making this opportunity possible ✨ A special thank you also goes to my sister Jaz James for joining me as my +1 and sharing this unforgettable experience.
