Clare Hoad reposted thisClare Hoad reposted thisToday I am excited to announce that Amazon is increasing the minimum starting pay for our UK frontline operations employees. From the end of September, minimum starting pay will increase around 10% to between £13.50 and £14.50 per hour, equivalent to more than £28k to £30k a year, depending on location. Since 2022, Amazon has invested £550 million in increased pay for operations employees, and minimum starting pay has risen by 35% - or £3.50 per hour - in the last two years. I want to thank all of our people for everything they do for customers, right across the UK. More details here: https://lnkd.in/em6spAJ9

Clare Hoad liked thisClare Hoad liked thisGreat jobs start with great pay. I'm delighted that, from 27 September, starting salaries for our frontline teams at Amazon will begin at more than £31,000 a year (over £33,000 in some locations), with minimum pay rising to £15.10 an hour (£16.10 in some locations). This will benefit tens of thousands of Amazon colleagues across the country, whether they're full-time, part-time, temporary or seasonal. Of course, pay is not the full story - great benefits, opportunities for career development and a supportive work environment are all really important as well. That's what I see when I travel round the country visiting our operations sites, and meeting amazing colleagues like Damian Sajda (pictured below). Damian Sajda joined Amazon in Peterborough fifteen years ago as an entry-level employee and has progressed through to be an Area Manager. He's just applied for a role at our new Peterborough site because he loves the energy of a launch. As he puts it: "The sky's the limit at Amazon.” Damian's story is the reason why so many people build long careers with us, and choose to benefit from our Career Choice programme, where we cover 100% of tuition fees (up to £3k a year) for employees to gain nationally recognised qualifications. More than 30,000 people in the UK have taken part since 2014. A HUGE thank you to all of our frontline teams - you're the reason customers trust us to deliver, every single day.

Clare Hoad liked thisClare Hoad liked thisI'm delighted to share that Amazon is increasing minimum starting pay for our frontline operations employees in Ireland to €17.10 per hour, effective 27 September 2026. This is a €0.65/hour increase and continues a pattern of sustained investment in our Irish workforce — starting pay has risen by approximately 27% since 2022. Our rate is now €2.95 above the National Minimum Wage and €1.70 above the Living Wage. We're also introducing free Amazon Prime membership for all eligible frontline employees in Ireland for the first time — valued at €69.90/year, on top of our existing benefits package including pension, employee discount, flexible shifts, and career development through our Career Choice programme. And we're hiring. We're currently recruiting for over 200 new frontline roles at our facilities in Dublin, including our fulfilment centre in Baldonnel and our distribution centres. Since opening in 2022, our fulfilment centre alone now supports over 700 roles. Our frontline employees are at the heart of everything we do. This investment reflects our commitment to offering one of the most competitive total compensation packages in the sector. Clare Hoad liked thisClare Hoad liked thisA few weeks ago, I received a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder alongside my existing ADHD diagnosis. So i have AuDHD. It's validating. It's also raised a lot of questions about my career so far. How many times have I masked my way through situations that were genuinely overwhelming? How often has my ADHD-driven confidence been mistaken for coping? How many conversations have I left drained — not because of the content, but the sheer sensory and social cost of being present? I've spent a year advocating for reasonable adjustments at work. Not to lower the bar, but to make the bar visible and accessible. Structured feedback. Predictable working patterns. Sensory accommodations. Written clarity on expectations. And here's what I've learned: when those adjustments are in place, its easier to manage my work, and also my output, it really helps with finding some form of consistency. Theres one thing i keep coming back to and thats coaching.... Specifically, neurodivergent coaching in the workplace. Not mentoring. Not a buddy system. Actual, qualified coaching that understands how ADHD and Autism interact — the push-pull between craving routine and struggling to maintain it, between wanting clarity and finding it impossible to ask for it. So I'm asking openly to the community Does your workplace offer neurodivergent coaching? What does that look like, and did it help ? I'd love to hear from other neurodivergent professionals, HR leaders, coaches, or anyone who's navigated this space, because another bout of CBT therapy doesn't really appeal! #adhd #autism #neurodivergence #audhd #coaching 🦋 ♾️ 🌻

Clare Hoad liked thisClare Hoad liked thisFantastic to see Callum's story on the front page of The Guardian this morning. Callum joined us through our Supported Internship programme at our fulfilment centre in Doncaster. He's autistic, and when he started, he was shy and unsure of himself. Today he's a permanent Amazon employee, earning a competitive salary with full benefits, and - as you can see from the article - confidently telling his story to a former health secretary. The stats about this group are shocking. 95% of young people with learning disabilities in the UK are unemployed, despite the vast majority wanting to work. That's not a skills gap. It's a failure of imagination on the part of employers. At Amazon, we started our Supported Internship programme in 2021 with 3 young people. In the last 5 years, we’ve had 300 graduates across 25 sites, making us the largest private sector provider of Supported Internships in the UK. More than 80% of our Supported Interns move into permanent employment. In June, we announced we're quadrupling the programme, and will offer more than 1000 supported internships across 40 sites by 2030. This programme makes great business sense. We get great employees. It makes our managers better communicators and makes the culture across our sites even more empathetic. And of course, it transforms the independence and confidence of these amazing young people. Alan Milburn is absolutely right that employers need to think bigger about who they hire and how. At Amazon we’re committed to continuing to scale what's working and demonstrating what's possible. If you're an employer and want to know how to start a Supported Internship programme, I'd strongly encourage you to look into it. DFN Project SEARCH are brilliant partners and can help you get started. I've shared a link in the comments.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities, support and experiences I’ve had, and for the truly brilliant people I’ve had the pleasure of working with along the way. As I return to work following maternity leave, I’m excited to be joining Sainsbury’s and looking forward to what’s next.

One of the more meaningful pieces of work I’ve been focused on lately has been introducing a structured probation review process into the business. Previously, probation reviews haven't been something we really used in a formal way. This meant we were missing a big opportunity to set clear expectations, support new starters properly, and give leaders a framework for early feedback. Over the past few months, I’ve been working on: • Building a simple, consistent probation review structure • Helping leaders understand what probation is actually for and how to use it well • Encouraging more genuine, two-way conversations • Bringing in the employee voice, with questions like: – Do you feel supported? – Is the role what you expected? – What motivates you to grow and stay? We now have a solid foundation for valuable checkpoints in the first 6 months of an employee coming onboard which will help alignment, development, and retention. Still evolving this space, but proud to be building something that genuinely sets our people up for success from day one. #WhitsundayFoodservice #PeopleAndCulture #HRLeadership #EmployeeExperience #LeadershipDevelopment #EmployeeEngagement #TalentManagement #WorkplaceCulture

I'm really proud of this one. Amazon UK has just been validated as a Disability Confident Leader — the highest level of the UK Government's scheme, independently assessed by BASE (British Association for Supported Employment). What does that actually mean in practice? A few things I think are worth calling out: We're creating genuine pathways into work — through Careers4All Supported Employment and our Supported Internship Programme with DFN Project SEARCH, people are moving into permanent roles, not just ticking a box. We're thinking about accessibility end to end — from Sunflower Lanyards and sensory rooms in our fulfilment centres, to assistive tech and dedicated accommodation support through our Global Accessibility & Accommodations team. We're equipping managers to lead inclusively, not just hoping they figure it out. Disability fundamentals training is there for leaders and Amazonians across the business. We have an incredible People with Disabilities Employee-Led Group who don't just raise awareness — they shape policy and culture across UK operations. And we're backing it up with progression opportunities — Career Choice, mentoring, apprenticeships — because inclusion that stops at the point of hire isn't inclusion. Are we perfect? No. This isn't the finish line - but it's an important route marker and we will keep going.....

What happens when you put Senior HR Leaders in a room to debate all things people, enablement, AI, and capability? You realise almost everyone is wrestling with the exact same challenge - how to adopt new technology without overwhelming people leaders. Balancing automated efficiency at scale with genuine human connection starts with giving managers space to actually lead. A huge thanks to Clutch Events, HiBob, and Anna Volkova for hosting a thought provoking roundtable!

Love this post Gillian and your discussion at the Mercer conference this week. Context is everything- and the biggest new thinking I’ve been doing since you challenged us to consider, is where future leadership and functional leadership comes from if AI is doing the tasks and blocking key pieces of experience in aspiring HR partners and leaders. Augmentation must be key, as must human mentoring and consciously creating opportunity.

https://lnkd.in/ezG3YbFX An absolutely brilliant read from Sam Forsdick. For those who cannot access I'll summarise: The job market today, and I can speak from my own experience, is tough. But there is hope. We are encouraged, more than ever, to stand out, be different and use our wide range of experience to get hired. Some key takeaways from this article: - AI and tech skills will take you further - knowing how to engage with this new way of working will push you further. - Knowing how the business works - strategy, revenue, productivity, profit and loss, it's more important than ever to understand your market and drive your people experience as a business leader. - Curiosity - this is key, change is inevitable now and it's happening fast, being curious and adaptable is going to make you stand out as a candidate - Be proactive - growing your network and promoting your achievements will take you far. Employers want to know that you are developing yourself, it's an asset. #candidatemarket #hirethebest #cipd
