Cecil Peters reposted thisCecil Peters reposted thisTold myself I'd post about human, kind. when the Young Gamechangers Fund grant came to an end, regardless of where things were at, because I wanted to hold myself accountable to sharing the journey I’ve been on as a young person receiving funding to try and change a system! Alongside all the admin-y bits, here's what we got through in the last 12 months: – Designed, hosted and analysed a UK wide survey – Ran focus groups across the UK with teachers and young people – Built bespoke wellbeing modules from that research: material and pedagogy that young people are clear that they want to engage with, and teachers want to teach – Recruited and worked with some brilliant freelancers – And now, we're doing the final snagging before pilots start in Mainstream schools this September It was difficult to stay motivated at times (ironic given one of the modules) but despite the countless emails that met no response (and one pilot that went cold), I'm proud to say that young people at school – who I'll probably never meet – are going to learn about something in their classroom because I thought of a topic I cared about based on my own experience and tried to take some action! If you're a teacher and want to bring this into your school from next academic year, comment below or send me a message and I'll share some more information. Enjoy your summer too though! Whilst the ultimate goal – enabling more young people to live the lives that they want to – remains the same, I’m grateful that this funding also opened the door to a Churchill Fellowship, where I'll be convening education leaders to help put wellbeing education on equal footing with academic achievement! See a few shots from the year below - including having the chance to speak at Mission 44’s Driving Change suite at Silverstone a few weeks ago! 🏎️

Cecil Peters shared thisMy good friend Big Sister Bee is finding ways and paths to support young people with their early careers. Acknowledging that in this changing world, there is more than one path !Cecil Peters shared thisThe early careers landscape hasn’t just become more competitive - it’s changed in what it values. A degree still matters. For many careers, it’s essential. But it’s no longer what sets you apart. With more access to information, more candidates, and increasing automation of routine tasks, the bar for value has risen. Employers are no longer just asking: “Are you qualified?” They’re asking: “What value can you actually bring?” That value now comes from: → Relevant skills → Real exposure → Visibility and positioning At the same time, perceptions are shifting. Apprenticeships were once seen as a second option. Today, they are increasingly recognised as a direct and credible route into many industries, offering experience, exposure and the opportunity to show value from day one. This isn’t about choosing one path over another. It’s about understanding that: 1. A degree alone is no longer enough in many industries 2. How you build your value matters more than ever The candidates who acknowledge this early on give themselves a real advantage. What’s your view? Are degrees still the main route, or are alternative pathways catching up? If you want help building and positioning your value more effectively — feel free to reach out. - Bee the difference- 🐝 * * * * * * * * #careers #graduates #apprenticeships

Cecil Peters liked thisThis week I made history… In history! 📜✨ On Thursday, I was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London as a Citizen & Management Consultant with Worshipful Company of Management Consultants. During my ceremony, the Registrar of the Chamberlains Court revealed something remarkable: my certificate is the first ever to bear three female names - Dame Susan Langley (Lady Mayor), Caroline Al'Beverty (Chamberlain), and me. 👩⚖️👩💼👩🏽💼 To be clear, these are ceremonial and historical roles within the City of London's formal governance structure, not to be confused with the Mayor of London! The Mayor and Chamberlain titles are ancient offices rooted in the City's traditions, dating back centuries, and reflected in the formal documentation of Freedoms. That my admission certificate carries three women's names for the first time in that history is a source of genuine pride. I'm thrilled to be part of that milestone. 🏛️ The Freedom itself is a privilege with deep tradition. It's a mark of standing within the City's community, rooted in the Livery tradition and the values of service, fellowship and professional excellence. It represents the professional journey I've built and the values of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants: using our skills to make a positive difference. 🤝 I owe enormous thanks to Malcolm McCaig, Master, and Julie Fox, our Clerk, for making yesterday so special, and to all the Company members who joined me to celebrate. To my amazing friends who were there to share this moment - thank you for being part of my journey. Your presence meant everything. ❤️

Cecil Peters liked thisCecil Peters liked thisLast month marked 23 years for me in executive search. I think I’ve earned the right to challenge a few things… I’m incredibly proud to have spent 23 years doing a job I love, working towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, no matter who they are or where they come from. To every client and candidate who has been part of that journey — thank you. And, of course, thanks to my co-star Manuel Heichlinger for being on this ride with me — and for playing the client so convincingly in this reel! 23 years down. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Let’s keep going! #ExecutiveSearch #Founder #CEO

Cecil Peters liked thisCecil Peters liked thisFreelancing has allowed me to work with some brilliant clients, companies and teams. It has also given me a valuable perspective on leadership. Working across different organisations means seeing, first-hand, how varied leadership styles can shape a team’s confidence, culture and performance. The best leaders I have worked with have not led through fear, blame or ego. They have built trust, given people ownership, recognised strengths and created space for others to grow. That experience inspired me to write my latest article on the leadership style I believe matters most: leadership that is fair, constructive and people-focused. For me, good leadership means understanding before judging, offering feedback that helps people improve, celebrating individual achievements and taking responsibility when things do not go to plan. It also means giving people the opportunity to lead, without seeing their success as a threat. A team’s success should never feel like competition for its manager. It should be one of the clearest reflections of strong leadership. I would love to hear your thoughts: what leadership style has brought out your best work? And do you agree that the strongest leaders are those who help others succeed? #Leadership #Motivation #Mentorship #PeopleFirstLeadership #EmpoweringOthers #TeamDevelopment #EmployeeEngagement #WorkplaceCulture
