This week is National Suicide Prevention Week and we're sharing Voices of Hope — real stories from real people, shared to help others feel less alone. Today we're sharing Toni's story. At 15, Toni made two attempts on her life. She told nobody. She felt ashamed. She didn't know where to turn. Then she found HopeLine 24/7. The support she received didn't just help her through a crisis. It helped her find her purpose. Today Toni is a Mental Health Champion, a fundraiser and one of the most passionate advocates for suicide prevention we know. Today we're sharing Amelia's story, told by her brother Ed. Amelia was 35 years old, a mother of two, the funny friend, the rock everyone leaned on. Nobody worried about Amelia. In March 2021, Ed lost his little sister to suicide. Since then, Ed has dedicated himself to raising awareness and making sure others know to look closer at the people around them. The adults around them make a real difference in that moment. A teacher who listens without judgement can be the reason a young person feels able to speak up.
