A huge congratulations to our Experimentation & Insights Team for winning In-House Team of the Year at the Experimentation Elite Awards last night! This award celebrates the hard work of the whole team, who have delivered over 100 experiments, trials and evaluations which have shaped key decisions at Our Future Health, including: - A multi-year programme of randomised experiments to improve our invitations, which led to tens of thousands of new people taking part in our research programme, - A randomised controlled trial across England which evaluated the impact of vouchers for participants, and led to vouchers being rolled out for all new participants, - A controlled evaluation which highlighted that community-based walk-in appointments at clinics improved participation among under-represented groups, which led to wider roll-out across the UK. We’re pleased to see a new study publication in BMJ Public Health today led by Wenyu Liu at Oxford Population Health and our Deputy Chief Health Officer Iain Turnbull - which found that almost two-thirds of adults with high blood pressure do not know they have it. The team studied data from 1.4 million #OurFutureHealth participants and found that 37% of people have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It was great to join the Ganesh Utsav event in Watford at the weekend, where we had a stall to share more about #OurFutureHealth. Thank you to everyone who visited us for a chat – we enjoyed discussing how health research can benefit people in the Hindu community, and hearing from you about what we can do to improve representation. #WatfordHinduGroup

We’re pleased to be working with the Caribbean & African Health Network to encourage Black African and Black Caribbean communities to take part in Our Future Health. In order to tackle health inequalities that affect Black communities, we need to better represent these groups in health research. There are already thousands of people from diverse backgrounds taking part – but there is always more we can do to make research truly representative. Together with Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) we are working to support Black communities to participate in health research programmes like Our Future Health. The Caribbean & African Health Network aims to address long-standing health inequalities that disadvantage people of Black Caribbean and African heritage. As part of their work with us, they will be delivering a communications campaign and hosting a listening session to understand the motivations and barriers to participation for people in Black communities. By working with the Caribbean & African Health Network, this will help us to ensure that new discoveries in health research benefit everyone.
