China can't buy the West's best AI models. 73,000 servers are selling it anyway. We just published deep research on this. Here's the short version 👇 Developers in China can't legally buy access to the top-tier Western AI models. So, a resale market fills the gap via middlemen they call "transfer stations." Here's how it works: ▶ An operator rents a server outside China, points it at the provider from a permitted country, and pools one legitimate account across hundreds of paying customers. The provider sees one well-behaved account. The customer pays in RMB through Alipay. ▶ We found 73,000 of these servers spread across 73 countries. https://lnkd.in/dmqaPzkR

Last week, we had the first ever Infrawatch offsite at Loch Lomond! It felt like a founding team properly rolling up its sleeves, getting into the detail, pushing back on each other, being honest about what matters, and still having an amazing time doing it. This stage of a company is intense because everything matters. The product decisions matter. The customer conversations matter. The standards we set internally matter. The way we communicate, challenge, ship, follow through, and take ownership all compound. Last week made it very clear to me that we have a team capable of holding that bar high, and raising it further. 🔐 | An #EdNapier cyber security graduate, who founded a fraud prevention tech firm after completing his studies, is marking a major step forward on his journey within the sector. Lloyd Davies’ company, Infrawatch, has raised a $3 million pre-seed round of funding to build the Internet Infrastructure Intelligence Layer, a new category of cyber security platform. Infrawatch gives security, fraud, and investigations teams real-time visibility into the infrastructure powering cyber-attacks, scams, phishing and online abuse. It combines intelligence collection with real-time classification, processing tens of billions of events per day, to help organisations pre-emptively defend their system. During his studies, Lloyd was also an instrumental member of ENUSEC, the Edinburgh Napier University Security Society. He was a keen participant in their Capture the Flag (CTF) team, taking part in many competitions and running sessions for students on topics such as reverse engineering. Lloyd and fellow students at #EdNapier, particularly through ENUSEC, regularly worked on ad-hoc security projects while competing in CTFs, helping to foster the University's culture of innovation and practical experimentation. It feels like I'm saying this every week now… Last week was another big one for Infrawatch. We had the chance to participate in Infosecurity Europe’s Cyber Innovation Zone with Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. On top of the constant flow of potential customers and partners stopping by our stand, founder Lloyd D. took to the Cyber Startup Stage to present our recent research on SIM Farms-as-a-Service (link in the comments). A massively productive, motivating and, yes, exhausting week. Now it's time to get back to work, and deliver on everything that came out of InfoSec!
