Some dogs find kennel life especially difficult. When Andy Pandy arrived in our care, he was struggling with separation anxiety, over-arousal and mouthing behaviours. Everyday life felt overwhelming, and living alone in a kennel was making it even harder for him to cope. Our Behaviour Team knew Andy needed something different. So he moved into one of our Group Living Facilities, where carefully matched dogs can live, socialise and learn alongside one another, while still receiving support tailored to their individual needs. For Andy, being around other dogs helped reduce his stress and build his confidence, supporting his progress while he waits for the right home. We had to share this lovely fostering story from one of our many amazing staff members Emily, looking at her fostering journey which started in March 2022!💛 Emily has fostered 50 dogs and counting between Kenilworth and Evesham, lasting from weekends to 9 months! Conker alert!🚨 After the UK's record-breaking summer, a premature arrival of autumn has triggered an unseasonably early drop of conkers from horse chestnut trees. This unexpected shift threatens to catch dog owners off guard. Conkers and acorns can be toxic to dogs and in some cases, can even be deadly. They can lead to symptoms such as: • Vomiting (being sick) • Diarrhoea (an upset stomach) • Stomach Pain • Restlessness • Urticaria (rash) • Swelling around the eyes and mouth • Not being able to move (or even collapsing) If you are concerned your dog has chewed or consumed conkers or acorns, or is showing signs of illness, please contact a vet immediately. The reality of working with dogs no matter how professional the setting! Last week we had the pleasure of attending the annual Westminster Dog of the Year where MP Anna McMorrin and her adorable Cocker Spaniel, Cadi were crowned the winners of 2026!
