Been a while huh...

Today Lawnchair 14 got approved by @GooglePlay!

Enjoy Lawnchair 14 on the Play Store by joining the beta, download Lawnchair here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.lawnchair.play

Alongside that, you are now able to download Lawnicons (based on 2.11.0, ~5000 icons) at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.lawnchair.lawnicons.play

For those oldschool people still enjoying Lawnchair 2, it will stick around for a while, it will now be known as Lawnchair Legacy!

Lawnchair Legacy will probaply not stay forever, as Google keeps increasing the minimum sdk version. Lawnchair Legacy already is already being blocked to download on some devices.
We are teaming up with third-party launcher developers (Smart Launcher, Niagara, Nova, etc.) to launch a survey (initially made by the Smart Launcher devs) to identify how widespread OS issues are for third-party launchers.

This critical feedback will help show our concerns to Google. We'll present the findings at a Google event in October, so we're aiming to gather as much data as possible to ensure accurate results.

Take the survey below to help improve the experience for all third-party launcher users:

AOSP 15 merge is still WIP and there's some broke stuff but should have less conflicts

Happy New Year from Lawnchair!

As we step into 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible milestones we achieved in 2024:

Highlights from 2024:
- Released Lawnchair 14 (beta) in April after two years of anticipation! This update brought global search, smartspacer integration, and various improvements.
- Made Lawnchair (in Early Access) and Lawnicons available on Google Play in September! Lawnchair has already surpassed 100K downloads, while Lawnicons has reached 10K downloads.
- For Lawnicons, we created a total of approximately 6000 icons and implemented several UI tweaks, along with improved documentation and icon guidelines to assist contributors.
- Launched our Open Collective account to support development, raising $1200 already! We've also decided to use $50 to accelerate the AOSP merge for Lawnchair 15.
- Refined our documentation and website for a better user experience.

What to Look Forward to in 2025:
- Lawnchair 15 is on the horizon, featuring Private Space, App Archiving, and more! You can follow development in our GitHub page.
- We’ll be putting your donations to good use with bug bounties and initiatives to accelerate releases and feature improvements.
- Expect even more icons for Lawnicons!

Thank you for being part of our journey! Here’s to an exciting 2025 filled with innovation and collaboration!
Hey everyone. To help us get Lawnchair 15 ready, we're looking for a couple of volunteers to help triage GitHub issues.

What it is: Helping us label, close duplicates, and confirm bugs. No programming knowledge is required.
Why it matters: It's one of the biggest bottlenecks slowing us down. Clearing it helps us focus on coding the next release.

If you are interested in contributing, please follow the instructions below
Wow. In just a few hours, we've had over 50 people volunteer to help triage Lawnchair issues. This response is incredible, and it shows how strong this community is. Thank you.

To manage this effectively and get everyone into a single, organized place, we must centralize our communication.

Running this across both Telegram and Discord is unfortunately not possible. We will be using a private channel on the Lawnchair Discord for the Triage Team, as its tools (threads, roles, permissions) are better suited for this specific task.

Therefore, we are using a role-based system to get everyone onboarded. Please follow these two steps carefully:

Step 1: Join the main Lawnchair Discord Server using this permanent link:

https://discord.gg/3x8qNWxgGZ

Step 2: Once you have joined, go to the #general channel and post the phrase "here to help with triage".

A moderator or I will then grant you the "Lawnchair Triagers" role, which will make the private #volunteer-triage-team channel visible to you. All further communication will happen there.

Thank you once again for your patience and incredible support.
Lawnchair 15 Beta 1 is here!

We're excited to release the first beta for Lawnchair 15, a foundational update based on Android 15.

This version works with QuickSwitch from Android 10 to Android 15 (initial release). Higher Android versions (including QPR releases) are not yet officially supported.

The biggest new feature is one of our most requested ever: App Drawer Folders. You can now create and reorder custom folders to finally organize your app drawer.

This release is packed with many other improvements, from a more powerful dock to dozens of UI refinements.

Lawnchair 15 Beta 2.1 is here!

While our focus remains on Lawnchair 16, we've decided to do a hotfix release
to address common issues regarding the current experience of Lawnchair 15.

This release contains the following changes:

* Adds a toggle to disable icon closing animations (GestureNavContract), which can resolve animation glitches on certain OEMs (like One UI)
* Fixes widgets failing to add when it requires a configuration step on Android 14 and up
* Fixes web search timeout not working (improving search performance when offline)
* Fixes Google Feed not showing properly (requires Lawnfeed 4.0)
* Fixes icon shadow not being applied correctly.

This release also includes new translations from Crowdin, and other minor performance improvements.

Alongside this hotfix, we have also released Lawnfeed 4.0, resolving issues
with the Google Feed not working in the Play Store or Nightly releases.

Lawnchair 15 Beta 3 is here!

As many of you know, the Android launcher landscape is changing rapidly over the past few months. To welcome users looking for a new, open-source home, this release now supports importing backups from Nova Launcher!

What it imports
• Home screen and dock grid layout
• Widgets and folders
• Selected icon pack

How to use it
1. Open Lawnchair Settings
2. Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top right corner
3. Select "Restore Nova backup" and choose your file

Note: Other Nova features not mentioned (like app drawer categories and icon swipe gestures) are not yet supported and won't be imported. You may need to do a little manual tweaking after the import.

While this is a major milestone for Lawnchair 15, our team is still working hard to improve and polish the Lawnchair 16 experience. Stay tuned for updates!
