Yesterday was a busy day for all of us and, mea culpa, I accidentally pressed send on a newsletter detailing the new Samsung foldables and wearables before it had been edited. Given Argentina’s late-game heroics throughout the World Cup, I’m surprised there were no last-minute goals to tie things up, but I’ll admit that Spain was the better team throughout the match.

Still, if you’re in North America, I think this recent headline from The Onion is spot on: Nation Wakes Up From Strange Dream Where They Were Watching Soccer. For the rest of the world, the countdown to World Cup 2030 starts…now.

Things definitely feel a little apocalyptic, but at least we have a World Cup Final match to look forward to this weekend. Go Argentina!

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Inbox by 9to5Google, a newsletter that’s also a love letter to the days when email (and email apps) were simpler and more opinionated.

No one really enjoys Prime Day anymore. The days of finding a needle-in-a-haystack deal are long over, and now it’s more about whether you have the patience to wait until Amazon applies minor discounts to the stuff you really want.

To that end, I usually use the month of June to store things in the “Save it for later” section of my Amazon cart for items that have caught my eye throughout the year but haven’t been cheap enough yet to justify ordering.

Over the years, I’ve accumulated some products that I use every day, that have withstood travel, kids, and time’s daily abuses. Some of them are tech-related, or tech-adjacent, and others are just nice things that I really enjoy.

The long, winding road to the Sonos Play takes us first through some unpaved paths, then to well-paved streets, which lead to wide open highways, at which point we run over a set of tire spikes, skid off the road and hit a tree at high speed, totaling the car in the process.

Now the vehicle is repaired, and we’re slowly inching our way onto the highway onramp, ready to hit those high speeds again.
