I've owned Getting Over It for about a year now, but only today have reached it's end.

I was in a very different place a year ago.
I've always been a pretty patient person, especially with myself, so when I played it a year ago, it was for the entertainment of others; for them to watch me try and try again in a challenge they couldn't endure themselves.
A year has passed since then, and so much has happened.
I lost countless friends to stupid decisions I made.
I lost the people I cherished most.
I lost hope.
It was my lowest point. My rock bottom.
It truly felt as if my life had lost all progress. I felt as if I had nothing left, and it was very tempting to give up, but I didn't.
Early on, I loathed myself.
I knew the things I did were wrong in retrospect and I hated myself for even being able to think of doing anything remotely similar.
I hurt people and I felt horrible because of it. People that I called friends.
I figured that the only thing I could do to make it up to everyone - including myself - was to take time to myself, heal, and work to improve myself.
None of it was easy. It took a very long time to genuinely feel recovered from it all. It no longer heavily affects me. I've had the time to take care of myself. I haven't forgotten any of it though. It was a wake up call to the mistakes I was constantly making, and I've taken the experience to heart and taken lessons from it to improve myself as a person.

I got over it, and I emerged as a better person.

Playing Getting Over It after so long reminded me of a lot, especially of the feeling of recovering from setbacks. Every setback I encountered was my own fault, and all I could do was either give up or strive to be better.

My feelings for Getting Over It are highly personal, but I believe it's a very good game nonetheless. It's a very good analogy for the uphill battle that life can often be. I would highly recommend you attempt it's challenge at least once in your life. Even if you put it down, it won't be giving up if you return to it.

I'd like to extend a personal Thank You to this game and the people who made it possible.

Jazzuo's quote is especially felt by me, and I think it bares repeating in the context of what I've said here.

I wish all who are going through trials and tribulations of their own the determination and persistence to improve and overcome their struggles.
