Sitelen Pona Guild

About Our Work

The Sitelen Pona Guild (sitelenpona.com) is a guild dedicated to maintaining stable workplace standards for professional users of Sitelen Pona.

Standards and Stability

The Guild fully supports and reaffirms the finalized definition of Common Sitelen Pona, as published by sitelenpona.org on January 17, 2026 and emailed by its President to the Unicode Consortium, which we have republished on sitelenpona.com. To ensure a reliable and consistent environment for professional publishers, content creators, producers and filmmakers, the Guild has entered the five-year period of stability as requested by Dr. Jan Kučera of the Unicode Consortium.

During this timeframe, the Guild strictly adheres to the established January 17, 2026 standards. While we celebrate the perpetual creative variations and grassroots proposals that emerge from the vibrant Toki Pona hobbyist communities who often wish to add, remove or change details of the language and writing system, the Guild is 100% committed and focused on the January 17, 2026 definition of Common Sitelen Pona, which is also used by the Under-ConScript Unicode Registry (UCSUR), as a fixed and dependable framework for the industry for at least five years.

Membership Eligibility

Criteria: The Sitelen Pona Guild welcomes members who use the writing system in at least a small professional capacity, as defined below.

Compare our professional standards with the membership requirements of other industry guilds, e.g. WGA, etc.

Source and Public Domain Rights

Both the Toki Pona language and the Sitelen Pona writing system were created by Sonja Lang and published in the Official Toki Pona series. The language and the writing system themselves reside in the public domain and are part of the author’s Chapter 19 invitation to be creative and play. As a result, the community is engaged in endless variations and remixes. These fall outside the scope of the Common Sitelen Pona standard used by consistent professionals. The wishes of enthusiasts do not affect the Guild.

Opportunities for Non-Professional Users

Those fun ideas and discussions are in an area called Creative Sitelen Pona, which we celebrate as part of the language’s vitality in casual speech and playful writing, made up typically of proposals to either remove words or add new coinages and cosmetic variations (instead of the standard Common Sitelen Pona ones) for flavour, humour, social trends, a sense of agency, or for other effects. We are grateful to all individuals and groups who are focused on the fluctuating range of lively ideas and diverse contributions, removal requests and reforms of hobbyists, enthusiasts, and amateur linguists alike.

Hobbyists are eligible to apply to sitelenpona.org/members.html#new, which is an association that is entirely separate from this Guild. Their January 17, 2026 publication is supported and permanently mirrored by this Guild to ensure stability for professional users.
