Marty Jacobs liked thisMarty Jacobs liked thisYesterday I shared the story of loading my family into a minivan and driving across the desert to pitch my idea to hoteliers one by one. Every single one of them loved it and saw the gap it filled. That road trip gave me the validation I needed. But validation doesn't pay the bills. In 2005 I was running out of money and running out of options. After a long search I finally found an investor willing to write the check. There was just one problem — he wanted 51% of my company. My idea. My relationships. My vision. And if I signed, I'd be handing over control of all of it. I didn't love it. But he was my only option. So I said yes verbally and we scheduled a meeting that afternoon to make it official. Early that morning my phone rang. It was a former colleague. He said four words I'll never forget. "Don't do it, Kelly." I told him I didn't have a choice. He said yes I did — and asked if he and another former colleague could meet with me before my afternoon meeting. I went. They pleaded with me not to sign. Then they offered to put in the first third of what I needed using their own home equity lines of credit and some sweat equity. No guaranteed return. Just belief in the idea and belief in me. I needed to think. I went to grab a coffee, and this is where it gets hard to believe. Standing in line I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and it was a friend — someone I'd pitched the idea to before without much movement. I told him where things stood. He said — "Let's get our coffee and walk up to my office. I'll write you a check for another third right now." We walked to his office one block away. He wrote the check. Just like that. Now I had two thirds. I called my attorney friend and asked if we could meet. I needed advice — I had two deals on the table and one still had 100% of the funding but would cost me control of my own company. My attorney listened. Then he said something I wasn't expecting. "My partners and I have an investment fund. This is exactly the kind of deal we've been looking for. We'll take the last third." I said — "Are you kidding me?" He wasn't. In about four hours I went from one bad deal to the right deal. Full funding. The partners I actually wanted. Majority ownership intact. I called the original investor and told him we were done. He was gracious and wished me well. Some people call what happened that day luck. Maybe it was. But I also think the right opportunities find the people who are paying attention and willing to walk away from the wrong ones. Don't settle for the wrong partner just because you're desperate. The right ones might be closer than you think.

Marty Jacobs liked thisMarty Jacobs liked thisWhat does a high-impact philanthropy makeover look like? At the tail end of 2024, we worked with an amazing client. Not only were they an accomplished CTO, but they were also incredibly generous. They had been supporting local meal-delivery initiatives for years to help underserved communities, particularly children. The logic was simple. Kids need food. No child should have to go hungry. After our initial discovery call, our team knew three important things: • Food insecurity was a cause they were especially passionate about • Giving children a fair chance at a flourishing life was a priority • Measurable outcomes and high certainty of impact were a must So what did we do? We helped them find an organization to add to their giving portfolio that: • Works to protect children from severe Vitamin A deficiency (which kills 200,000 kids globally per year) • Has a proven track record of delivering world-leading results in the space • Delivers measurable outcomes and has a strong evidence base for its programs The difference in impact? I'll let you decide. Before working with us their donation provided one meal, for one person, for every $1 donated. Now, their donation provides life-saving nutrients for a child, for six months, per $1 donated, and GiveWell’s cost-effectiveness analyses estimate that, on average, this program saves a child’s life for every $3,500 donated! Backup coding agent (to Claude Code) in 6 simple steps. Or if you want to work with coding agents on par with the costly coding agents, it's for you. Claude Code token limitations can become a huge blocker. The 5-hour token limitation surely pisses me off. So, let's fix it. Shazzadul Haque, we were talking about this. I am using opencode. Took the time today to install it; the steps aren't too complicated. I will run further experimentation to come up with workflows where I can pick up work with opencode that Claude Code was doing. Maybe, if I'm able to mirror Claude's code features (skills, agents, etc.), I might start using opencode as my main agent, who knows...we'll see. Steps to get your opencode running (I used Mac): 1. Install ollama: https://ollama.com/ Or if you have Homebrew installed: brew install ollama 2. Install open code: curl -fsSL https://lnkd.in/g72wTMZy | bash 3. Download and run the LLM model for Ollama ollama run qwen3-coder Keep it running in terminal 4. configure opencode to use Ollama model - create file: ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json - paste: { "model": "ollama/qwen3-coder", "provider": { "ollama": { "npm": "@ai-sdk/openai-compatible", "options": { "baseURL": "http://localhost:11434/v1" }, "models": { "qwen3-coder": { "name": "Qwen3 Coder 30B" } } } } } 5. Verify installation verify ollama service: curl http://localhost:11434/api/tags verify model installation: curl http://localhost:11434/v1/chat/completions \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "model": "qwen3-coder", "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Say \"OpenCode ready\""}], "max_tokens": 20 }' verify opencode installation: opencode --version 6. run opencode On your terminal, run: opencode Congrats! Now you have a free coding agent that's AMAZING in your ends. Make magic happen! Good luck! Let me know how you find opencode. sidenote: If you're using Windows for all of that, you might want to look into WSL(Windows Subsystem for Linux). This will make your life much easier.

AI x asset management = $6M Multiplier, an AI company developing agent harnesses for asset managers, announced it has raised $6 million in a seed financing round. The round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, GoAhead Ventures, Rebel Fund, General Advance, Unpopular Ventures, and Amino Capital. Notable individual backers include Bridgewater Associates co-CIOs Greg Jensen and Karen Karniol-Tambour, Fortress Investment Group Chairman Pete Briger, DeepMind CSO Jasjeet Sekhon, and Polygon CEO Sandeep Nailwal, along with customers such as Mercator Partners. Formerly known as WithAI, the company rebranded to align with its core mission of expanding the capabilities of human investors. The company was founded by CEO Ian McInnis, former Bridgewater investor; COO Ryan Winkler, formerly of StepStone Group; and CTO/President Ben Finch, previously a founding researcher at Sentient Labs. Multiplier addresses the limitations of generic financial AI tools by deploying repeatable infrastructure directly within a customer's existing systems, customized to match each firm's specific data, workflows, and security requirements. To prevent performance degradation and bias during continuous learning, Multiplier builds custom evaluations tailored to each client's investment framework, backed by human oversight. Early adopters report that Multiplier streamlines workflows across investment processes, ranging from initial idea generation to post-trade reviews, by organizing internal research and historical decisions. Early customer Mercator Partners, which helped incubate the firm, noted a significant shift in time spent from gathering information to executing decisions. Multiplier plans to use the newly raised funds to expand its infrastructure and develop its platform into a central operating system for asset management firms.

🚀 **Exciting Developments in Latin America's Crypto Space!** 🌍 Argentine exchange Ripio is focusing on local currency stablecoins as it anticipates a cautious outlook for the crypto market in 2026. CEO Sebastián Serrano is pivoting from retail to a B2B infrastructure model, targeting banks and fintechs with innovative solutions. The growing use of peso-pegged stablecoins like wARS could significantly improve user experience (UX) by minimizing foreign exchange (FX) risks for local borrowers. This move aligns with a broader trend — tokenizing local assets to streamline DeFi lending and provide financial services that resonate with local economies. From a technical perspective, the market shows resistance at key stablecoin transaction volume levels, but with promising initial traction around $200,000 for wARS, the potential for growth is notable. The $100 million AUM target by year-end could serve as a crucial support level for sustainable growth. As we explore this transformation, what are your thoughts on the impact of local stablecoins in emerging markets? #Crypto #Stablecoins #DeFi

Rep. Ritchie Torres Moves to Ban Insider Trading in Political Prediction Markets Representative Ritchie Torres is taking a proactive stance against potential abuses in the burgeoning field of political prediction markets. Prompted by a controversial $400,000 profit made from a bet on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s capture, Torres plans to introduce the Public Integrity in Financial Prediction Markets Act of 2026. This legislation aims to prohibit federal officials and employees with access to nonpublic political information from trading on platforms that predict government actions or political outcomes, aligning these markets with existing insider trading rules in traditional finance. The impetus for this bill was a suspiciously timed large wager on Polymarket that predicted Maduro’s removal from power. Shortly after, US forces reportedly captured Maduro, leading to a rapid payout to the trader who made the bet from an account with little prior activity. This raised concerns about whether insider political or military intelligence was exploited. Polymarket has since faced scrutiny, including security breaches attributed to a third-party authentication flaw, leading to drained user balances and a crackdown on account security. Torres’ push highlights a crucial intersection of emerging financial technologies and regulatory frameworks, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness as prediction markets grow in popularity. The bill will likely set precedents for applying insider trading principles to new digital trading forms tied to political events. As prediction markets evolve, this move underscores the importance of safeguarding market integrity against misuse of privileged information. #InsiderTrading #PredictionMarkets #PoliticalRegulation

Navarrete's method focuses on level-based analysis, emphasizing Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) to identify trends, particularly the bearish 'death cross.' He also employs unique visual patterns like the 'expensive law' and distinctive candle names to enhance signal recognition. For November 2025, Navarrete suggests the recent correction might be complete. However, he anticipates further declines to complete a shoulder-head-shoulder pattern, cautioning about potential drops below $ for lack of strong support, noting a long negative streak on a parabolic indicator. #BitcoinAnalysis #TechnicalAnalysis #CryptoInsights #FinancialMarkets

Re is partnering with Ink, Kraken’s Ethereum Layer 2. We’re starting with reUSD on Ink. reUSD is a stable, yield-accruing core asset connected to real-world risk transfer, designed to be used across DeFi, not just held. Over time, we want reUSD to power real usage on Ink across trading, lending, collateral, and settlement as liquidity and integrations expand. Quick refresher: reinsurance is insurance for insurance companies. It helps insurers stay stable through spikes in claims, so people can drive cars, own homes, start businesses, and take risks without a single bad event wiping them out. reUSD is already live on Ink today. Liquidity is the next unlock. Points eligibility on Ink is unchanged. Re: https://re.xyz reUSD: https://app.re.xyz/reusd Ink: https://x.com/inkonchain
