Abstract

Provided is a remote copy method which copies data in a first storage device into a second storage device via a network. The method performs: a step of storing first recording medium data in a first recording-dedicated buffer in the first storage device; a step of transmitting all the buffer in the first recording-dedicated buffer in a buffer set unit to the second storage device when a switching condition of the buffer set formed by a plurality of first recording-dedicated buffers is satisfied; a step of storing data received in the second storage device into a second recording-dedicated buffer; and a step of spreading all the data in the second recording-dedicated buffer to a second recording medium as a copy destination upon completion of data reception. The first storage device transmits a buffer request to the second storage device prior to data transmission. In response to the buffer request, the second storage device reports the number of second recording-dedicated buffers mounted on the second storage device.
