Definitions
- the invention relates to a security device against unauthorized use, in particular a motor vehicle, such as a leasing or rental vehicle or a vehicle of a vehicle fleet.
- This security device is intended to use an object, in particular the use of an object
- bidirectional communication takes place between a motor vehicle and a control center.
- the central control unit sends out release signals to the motor vehicle.
- the release signals also define a restriction on the use of the vehicle. If the user opens his vehicle with a key, the system asks whether there is a user authorization. If there is an authorization, the vehicle can be used to the extent communicated with the release signal.
- Another known security device (US 4,353,056 or DE 42 22 387 C2) has a biometric identification device with which a user's fingerprint is captured before access to the vehicle is released. With such safety devices, only the user who was initially defined can use the vehicle in one use defined scope. If a leasing or rental vehicle changes hands or users, the authorization data of the new user must be stored in the vehicle in advance so that it can use the vehicle properly.
- the object of the invention is to prevent unauthorized use of an object, in particular a leasing or rental vehicle or a vehicle of a vehicle fleet, reliably and in a simple manner.
- the security device has a biometric identification device with which the biometric features of a user are recorded. When accessing the motor vehicle, these biometric features are compared with stored comparison data. If there is agreement, the use of the vehicle is permitted. On the other hand, so that the comparison data can be changed at any time, the security device has a receiving device via which authorization data are received via a communication system. These authorization data are either stored as comparison data or used to initiate initialization and then to save the comparison data.
- the leasing or rental vehicle can be passed on to another owner, the authorization data being previously recorded in a control center and sent to the vehicle via the communication system. Not all authorization data of every future user need be stored in the vehicle in the vehicle. Users of a motor vehicle can therefore switch as long as they are known as a user in the central office. Key to use the motor vehicle do not need to be passed from one user to the next. Only the data of one user can be stored in the motor vehicle.
- a vehicle In the case of a vehicle fleet, it can thus be determined that a vehicle is used by a first driver and after a certain time by a second driver.
- the scope of use can be transferred to the vehicle with the authorization data before the driver change.
- the initialization can take place at the location of the motor vehicle. However, the start of initialization is released by the control center.
- the biometric identification device can be a fingerprint recognition unit, a speech recognition unit or an image recognition unit with which the biometric features of a user are recorded. A user thus does not need to carry a key with which he must unlock the vehicle and start the motor vehicle.
- the biometric identification device is preferably arranged on or in the motor vehicle in such a way that bio etrical identification can be carried out with users who both come from outside and are sitting in the vehicle.
- the identification device is preferably arranged on or in the vicinity of a lock (door lock or ignition lock) of a motor vehicle.
- the authorization data can be personal, biometric data or even object-specific usage data with which the scope of use is determined.
- Control data can also be transmitted as authorization data, on the basis of which an initialization is initiated, after the successful course of which comparison data of the user performing the initialization are stored. The initialization is carried out when a pin code number is entered correctly via a keyboard.

- the previous authorization data can be overwritten or deleted.
- Authorization data from several users can also be stored there at the same time. Then several users may use motor vehicle 1.
- a new user can also be subsequently approved for the vehicle by having his authorization data recorded in the control center 6 by a biometric identification device.
- the detected identification data are then transmitted to the vehicle as authorization data and stored in the target value memory 11.
- Usage data can also be transmitted together with the authorization data, by means of which the scope of use of motor vehicle 1 is determined.
- the scope of use can be a period of time, a geographical area of use, a maximum driving distance, a number of users or coded information.
- the usage data is sent as a digital value together with the authorization data encoded or coded transmitted to motor vehicle 1.
- the authorization data are received, they are demodulated and decrypted and stored in the setpoint memory 11.
- the motor vehicle 1 is then ready for use by the respective authorized user to the extent determined by the usage data.
- the legitimate scope of use can be determined by known devices such as a clock, an odometer, a GPS location system, etc. be monitored. If the scope is exceeded, the user and the control center 6 can be warned. If it is exceeded further, the motor vehicle 1 can be stopped and locked from the control center 6, i.e. the permission to use is revoked.
- An initialization control signal together with coded target information e.g. a pin code number to be transmitted to motor vehicle 1.
- initialization a learning procedure for personal, biometric data is started.
- identification data are recorded once and stored as authorization data.
- a new initialization can only be carried out again when an initialization control signal is received again from the control center 6.
- a pin code number can also be transmitted to the motor vehicle.
- another input means is required with which coded information is entered by the user.
- Such an input means can, for example, be from The landlord or fleet operator can be a handheld transmitter or a chip card. These deliver their coded information to the motor vehicle, where it is compared with the target information received. If they match, the learning procedure is started as described above.
- the fingerprint recognition unit 8 is activated, on the sensor 15 of which the respective user places his finger 16.
- the captured fingerprint is processed and converted into comparison data.
- the comparison data are then stored in the setpoint memory 11. After completion of the initialization, this user can use the vehicle within the defined usage.
- the additional authorization can be verified by entering the coded information if the information entered matches the previously received target information.
- Time limits can be set for the initialization process within which the initialization must be carried out. If the initialization is not carried out within the set period, all previous comparison data can continue to apply or can be deleted so that no one is authorized to use the motor vehicle 1, unless new authorization data are transmitted again from the control center 6 or a new one Initialization is in progress. As a precaution, the transmitted pin code number may only be known to the vehicle rental company and the vehicle hirer, i.e. the user, in order to prevent misuse.
- the stored comparison data are only valid for a predetermined time. After that, their validity expires. This can be done by deleting the memory content of the setpoint memory 11 with the comparison data. The reference value memory 11 must then be supplied with new comparison data before the vehicle can be used properly again.
- the biometric identification device can essentially be arranged in the control unit 4, from which the connections to the sensor 15, the microphone 23 or the video camera 29 are made.
- the control unit 4 can be accommodated in a break-proof housing.
- the sensor 15 of the fingerprint recognition unit 8 can be arranged on the vehicle door and another sensor in the vicinity of the ignition lock 31, on the dashboard within reach of the user, on the center console or on the gear lever.
- the video camera 29 can be arranged behind a window of the vehicle in such a way that it captures both the exterior and the interior of the vehicle.
- the microphone 23 is also arranged in such a way that it can detect both speech signals from the outside and from the inside. Several microphones or several video cameras can also be present. It is immaterial to the invention which biometric features are recorded. It is essential that the recorded biometric features are compared with the comparison data.
- the comparison data are either sent to the motor vehicle 1 via the central unit 6 and stored there in the setpoint memory 11 or, as a result of a received initialization signal after initialization, is stored in the setpoint memory 11.
- the setpoint memory 11 can be an EEPROM or another suitable data memory, the data of which cannot be read from the outside by unauthorized persons.
- the control unit 4 can essentially be a microprocessor or a functionally equivalent device that controls the safety device.
- the authorization data are exchanged as digital signals between the control center 6 and the motor vehicle 1 wirelessly in a suitable manner, for example as HF signals.
- the control unit 4 can be connected to the central locking system 12, the immobilizer 13 or another security unit which is only locked or unlocked if the comparison of the detected biometric identification data with the comparison data was successful.
- the communication system can be an in-house data network with many data lines.
- the authorization data for the individual security devices (in the case of hotels, these are the door locks) are sent via the control center 6.
- the access authorization to the rooms can thus be controlled centrally.
- the hotel guest only needs to leave his fingerprint at the reception.
- the authorization data for the room can be deleted centrally or with new authorization data from another hotel guest be overwritten. Otherwise, the usage data can provide a limited period of use. The authorization data then expire automatically.
- Cars, hotel rooms, garage doors, 6 networked personal computers or telephones etc. can be used as objects. be considered.
- the safety device according to the invention is used in particular for leasing or rental vehicles. Likewise, freight companies can better protect their vehicle fleet (several trucks) with the security device against unauthorized use. The drivers can be compelled to adhere to rest periods due to the usage data.
- the control center 6 can also receive an alarm signal when the scope of use is exceeded and then contact the user - for example by telephone.
- An immobilizer 13 is to be understood as an electronic device which enables the internal combustion engine to be started and the vehicle to be driven only if proof of authorization is provided.
- the device can be arranged, for example, in the engine control unit. If the authorization is verified, it enables the functions of the engine control unit.
- the device can also electromagnetically control a valve in the fuel line. A controlled switch in the ignition system is also possible, which only permits ignition of the internal combustion engine if proof of authorization is provided.
- Several electronic devices distributed over the motor vehicle can also serve as an immobilizer.
