To ALL WHOM IT" MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, G jJRHARD RINGEN, of Smith City, in the county of Pettis, and State of Missouri, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ploughs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full. and
. clear description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention relates to an improved construction of the share and land-side, which are formed of one single piece, and also to an improvement in the construction of the post which couples the forward end of the plough with the beam. I
i To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my improved plough, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a side elevation of the improved plough, and Figure 2 is a plan of the share and land-side detached from the other parts. The beam A, handles B, and mould-board C are of the usual construction, and hence need no particular description. The share D and land-side E are formed of one single piece of metal, or of two pieces welded at the line at e. The post F is secured to the beam A in the usual manner, while its bottom end is divided into two partsff', the former of which is secured, by means of the bolts a a, tosthe mould-board C, and piecef', by,
means of the bolt e, to the land-side E. The object of this arrangement of the said post F is to secure strength and simplicity of construction. By making the share and land-side in one single piece fewer bolts are used, and ajoint between the parts along the line dc is avoided, and a joint at that place is very objectionable, as it allows the dirt to work into it and open it.
Having described my invention, what I claim, is-
The share D and the land-side E, when formed of one piece, and combined with the post F, having two branches ff, substantially in the manner herein shown and described.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of October, A. D. 1866, in presence of GE RHARD RINGEN. [smu] Witnesses:
M. RANDOLPH, Guns. H. BOYLE.
