Three key USPI Data Standards are identified in IOGP's new Information Standards Toolkit Long before "digital transformation" became a boardroom phrase, USPI started doing the essential work of getting engineers, owner-operators and software vendors across the process industry to agree on how to describe a plant using data. USPI has made a significant contribution to a broad portfolio of practically applicable data standards for the process industries, which now presents a tipping point for organisations and supply chains to address their data issues. It has also encouraged cooperation and alignment of different information standardisation efforts and works closely with many standards bodies including ISO - International Organization for Standardization, DEXPI e.V., CFIHOS and Standards Norway NORSOK To raise awareness of the growing portfolio of data standards and help organisations navigate this landscape, IOGP has published the Information Standards Toolkit for Data Exchange — Report 805. The Toolkit is available to download free of charge via the link below. USPI has initiated and led the development of several standards now featured in IOGP's new Information Standards Toolkit , including: – ISO 15926 – Industrial automation systems and integration — Integration of life-cycle data for process plants including oil and gas production facilities – covering data models, class libraries, planning data and more. – The Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification (CFIHOS) – before it was adopted by IOGP as JIP36 in 2020 – covering plant breakdown structures, document management and handover. – The Facilities Lifecycle 3D Model Standard (FL3DMS) – for 3D model development, management and reality capture. CFIHOS and FL3DMS are now free, coordinated and ready to implement. About Ben Martin: Ben Martin is the Digital Sustain Lead with 20 years industry experience and a strong focus on digital asset data, and the long term sustainability of engineering information across the asset lifecycle. He works closely with engineering, operations, and digital teams to improve data quality, governance, and the accessibility of critical information. Ben is passionate about driving practical digital transformation, enabling better decision-making through structured and trusted data. His work supports the adoption of industry standards and collaborative approaches that deliver greater value for clients and asset owners.

USPI has published the first report from the Information Management in Large Capital Facilities (IM-LCF) project. The report presents lessons learned from the Series 1 workshops on the development and use of a Common Data Environment (CDE) for large capital facility projects. It examines the organisational and technical challenges created by fragmented information, different levels of digital maturity and limited interoperability between engineering systems. Key topics include: • the role of a CDE in managing structured lifecycle information • information ownership, governance and organisational readiness • the relationship between ISO 19650 and ISO 15926 • data quality, semantic integration and traceability • practical experiences from participating organisations • risks and opportunities associated with CDE implementation The report is intended to help owner operators, EPC contractors, engineering companies, suppliers and software providers set realistic information-management objectives, learn from industry experience and make informed decisions about CDE implementation. We thank the participating organisations and experts who contributed their knowledge, project experience and practical observations to the workshop series and report. Great to look back on an inspiring and productive week in The Hague!
