‍China's newly-built Beijing Daxing International Airport welcomed test flights of planes from four Chinese airlines on Monday.

Located in southern Beijing's Daxing district, the new airport is expected to become north China's air travel hub. It is 46 kilometers from Tiananmen Square, 55 km from the Xiongan New Area and 67 km from Beijing Capital International Airport.

Once completed, the airport will have the capacity to handle 45 million passengers annually by 2021, and 72 million by 2025.

As Beijing's second international airport, Daxing Airport is expected to work with Beijing Capital International Airport to meet the capital's rising demand for air travel and help balance development in Beijing's southern and northern areas.
