*An incremental idle-clicker rogue-lite wrapped in a living ecological

simulation.*

You are not a spirit of the wood.

You are **The Everwood** — ancient as the earth itself. The embodiment of nature. The caretaker of life, the curator of its order, the bringer of storms, the wind talker. Before humans huddled at their fires and painted beasts on cave walls, you roamed the world; ages later, they would feel you in the wild and give you small, soft names so they could sleep at night *Gaia*, *Mother Nature*. You built a perfect world, finally able to rest, you slumbered. You woke to find it carved apart, burned, and silenced. Now the land below you is dead, salted, scorched, barren  and you are the mother and father of everything that will ever grow here again. Pour vitality into bare dirt and will the first sprout into being; nurture it into a meadow; watch the meadow call in the small plants, then the flowers, the bushes, and finally the trees. Then watch a broken world try to take it all away — and shape it again. You have the patience of eons.

## A world that actually lives

Everwood is not a spreadsheet with grass on top. It is an ecosystem, simulated
cell by cell:

- **The soil is real.** Every square of ground holds its own water, nutrients
and vitality, on a fourteen-tier ladder from Salted-and-Scorched wasteland to Dense Magical Soil. Rich ground drinks the rain; dead ground sheds it.

- **Plants are alive, not timers.** A plant grows only by banking vitality — fed  by sunlight, water, nutrients, and your own hand. It drinks from its roots,  stores reserves against drought, casts visible seeds, rests at night, starves,  dies, and rots back into the ground that grew it.

- **Succession, like real forests.** Dense grass invites small plants; thickets  invite flowers; flowers invite bushes; and old growth calls in the trees. The  ladder of life climbs on its own — if you keep the land alive.

- **Creatures arrive when the land can feed them.** Rabbits graze the meadow,  squirrels raid the seed bank, foxes hunt the rabbits, birds seed the earth  from the sky. Nothing is placed; everything is earned.

- **Weather is real.** Clouds drift, saturate, and rain on the ground beneath  them — or you can coax the rain, drink the clouds dry, or forge a storm with  your own hands.

## The loop

Click to pour life into the world. Everything you ever buy makes that click — and the ecosystem it feeds — stronger: per-species growth upgrades, soil that holds more and gives more, wider and heavier pulses of vitality, tools that collect seeds, plant them anywhere, call rain, and coax new births.

Then the sky darkens. **Catastrophes stalk the Everwood** — droughts that empty the sky for weeks at a time, with worse to come — and no forest survives forever, or can it?  When the end comes (or when you choose it), the run converts into

**Ash and Soul Fragments**: permanent currencies that buy permanent power. Rebirth is not defeat — it is how nature works. Every cycle begins on dead ground with The Everwood grown mightier: grow further, survive longer, and one day keep your forest standing through the storm itself.

## Discover everything

A living Codex tracks every species of plant, seed, creature and soil your games have ever surfaced — silhouettes until you've met them, a collection that survives every rebirth.

---

**Status: Alpha.** The full loop is playable today — grow, upgrade, endure, rebirth — while new biomes, more creatures and catastrophes, wind, audio, and deep meta-progression are still on the way. Numbers will move. Forests will die.

Feedback is very welcome.
