About this book
This book reviews the theory and practice on radiation protection and nuclear safety based on experimental case studies. It concentrates on research advances in radiation detection, radiation monitoring, radioactive waste treatment and disposal. It can both serve as a textbook for advanced undergraduates majoring in radiation protection and nuclear safety, nuclear engineering and technology, nuclear chemical engineering and nuclear fuel engineering and a reference for industry and institutes.
The basis of English translation of this book, originally in Chinese, was facilitated by artificial intelligence. The content was later revised by the author for accuracy.

About the authors
Dr. Xiaoqin Nie, professor, is the deputy director of the National Collaborative Innovation Center for Nuclear Waste and Environmental Safety, Southwest University of Science and Technology, China. She is currently mainly engaged in research on nuclide biogeochemical processes and deep purification of complex low-level radioactive waste liquids. In recent years, she has led nearly 10 provincial-level and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) horizontal projects, including 3 National Natural Science Foundation projects, Sichuan Outstanding Youth Science Fund, Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology Key R&D and Leading Project, China Postdoctoral Special Support Program, etc. She has published over 100 papers in journals and three English monographs. She has also authored a number of books and book chapters. She applied for 40 national invention patents and was granted 19 patents.
Dr. Junling Wang is a lecturer and works at the National University of Defense Technology/School of Nuclear Science and Technology, Southwest University of Science and Technology. Her main research direction is radiation damage of materials and devices and radiation detection. In recent years, she has presided over three projects, including the open fund of the NHC Key Laboratory of Nuclear Technology Medical Transformation (MIANYANG CENTRAL HOSPITAL), the sub-project of the Sichuan Provincial Major Science and Technology Special Project, and the school's doctoral fund. She has published more than ten papers in journals such as Journal of Applied Physics, Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B, and Chinese Physics Letters.
