Ralf is a seasoned Partner with KPMG based in Tokyo where he works across advisory, tax and transfer pricing. Ralf leads KPMG’s Financial Services Transfer Pricing (FSTP) service offering in Japan and works for both multinational as well as Japanese clients across other key sectors.
Ralf has an extensive international track record of over 22 years’ experience across international tax, transfer pricing, financial analysis, valuations, tax controversy, grants & incentives and value chain alignment. During his tenure in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, and Germany, Ralf has worked for many of the leading firms across the financial services, technology, ENR, consumer, life sciences and industrial sectors.
Ralf has supported clients on transfer pricing planning, restructurings, operationalization, documentation and tax-controversy related projects. He worked on more close to 50 Advanced Pricing Agreements (APAs), joint tax audits, ICAPs and numerous high profile controversies on local and competent authority level with tax authorities in the US, Japan, China, Singapore and across the EU.
For the last 9 years, Ralf has been continuously voted into Euromoney / Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax / Transfer Pricing Advisors.
Ralf holds an Master in Business Administration (MBA) / Master in Economics from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy and has studied at the Wharton Business School in Philadelphia, USA and International University of Japan.

Thanks as always Masa for supporting these initiatives! コスパでかいと思います！Ralf Heussner a aimé ceci暑い日が続いていますね。外に出るとサウナの中にいるような暑さです（笑）。 そんな中、先週、KPMGジャパンの Running & Trekking部のメンバーと一緒に、人生初の皇居ランを体験してきました。 大手町のランニングステーションでウェアもシューズもレンタルし、日頃から走り慣れている皆さんに囲まれながら、雨上がりの蒸し暑い中を必死についていきました。 走り始めた時は「もう無理かもしれない…」と思いましたが、不思議なことにだんだん体が慣れてきて、メンバーとの会話を楽しみながら5kmを34分ほどで完走。気づけばシャツは汗でびっしょりでした。 スタートした時はまだ明るかった皇居周辺も、ゴールする頃にはビルの明かりが煌々と輝く美しい夜景に。息は上がりましたが、とても気持ちの良い時間でした。 そしてシャワーを浴びた後は、同僚パートナーと一緒に、せっかく走って消費したカロリー以上のビールと街中華を堪能（笑）。 健康的なのか不健康なのか分かりませんが、仲間との時間も含めて最高のリフレッシュになりました。 #皇居ラン #ランニング #KPMG #RunningAndTrekking #リフレッシュ #健康経営

KPMG US has been a great place to build my career and I feel lucky that I was able to do the many things I did and work with so many interesting, smart, and fun people. Our profession is undergoing tremendous change. AI is raising the bar for all of us knowledge workers. It's exciting and there's never been a better time to be in this line of work if you are looking for a challenge. Ralf Heussner a aimé ceciRalf Heussner a aimé ceciGreat to be back at IAA and reconnect with so many colleagues, partners and customers, both familiar faces and new connections. It truly feels like a homecoming, while also offering opportunities to build new relationships. It was impressive to see the strong presence of the Volvo Group across the exhibition, with Volvo Trucks showcasing its solutions through test drives and demonstrations, and a broad product line-up on display. And Renault Trucks was back at IAA after 8 years! One thing that stood out throughout the week was the pace of transformation across our industry. The shift towards zero-emission transport continues to accelerate, with a wide range of battery electric vehicles on display. My key takeaway is that technology development is advancing in leaps rather than steps. We are well positioned to tackle future challenges, provided we continue to work closely across the ecosystem, collaborate with partners and customers, and maintain the ability to adapt quickly when needed. The highlight of the week was seeing our new battery electric vehicle range recognized with the International Truck of the Year award. As the perfect ending of great days at IAA, CampX was recognized with it receiving the Open Innovation Award. A memorable week filled with inspiration, meaningful conversations and confidence in the road ahead.

Ralf Heussner a réagi à ceciRalf Heussner a réagi à ceci"Were those 3 months an important point in your life?" A colleague asked me this after I returned from Tokyo. It was a simple but meaningful question, and I did not need much time to think about the answer: Yes, they were. I recently had the opportunity to join KPMG's Tax Trek program in Tokyo for a couple of months. I first heard about this kind of program around 8 years ago when I began my journey with KPMG Indonesia, never knowing that it would one day become part of my own story. The experience was rewarding in many ways. It meant adapting to a new professional and social environment, learning from different approaches at work, and meeting colleagues from Japan and many other countries. It also meant exploring Tokyo and other beautiful parts of Japan, which made the experience equally memorable on a personal level. Looking back, one of the most meaningful lessons was the importance of being willing to step beyond what feels familiar and comfortable. Caution and thoughtful consideration will always matter, but they do not have to prevent us from embracing something new. I learned that sometimes, growth begins by simply allowing myself to take the first step. There was also much to learn from the working culture and different approaches to collaboration. When knowledge and perspectives are shared, differences can become a source of strength and provide room to learn and grow. I am grateful to KPMG Indonesia and KPMGジャパン／KPMG Japan, as well as to all the colleagues who made this opportunity possible and meaningful. The experience opened the door not only to a new environment and new connections, but also to a deeper understanding of how much potential can still be explored. There will always be more to learn and more room to grow. This chapter is a meaningful reminder that life is a wonderful time of learning, especially when we remain open to new people, new perspectives, and new experiences.

Representing SCS-Invictus Group, it was my pleasure to serve as the key coordinator and speaker for our SCS Global Singapore and SCS Global Malaysia offices. It was also our first time hosting a delegation organised by the Shanghai Management Science Society for their market study visit to #Singapore and #Malaysia, two key markets in ASEAN. The sessions were mainly conducted in Chinese, which certainly came in handy and I even had the opportunity to play a small role as a Chinese-English translator. ☺️ During the discussions, we also observed that the entrepreneurs and legal professionals demonstrated deeper insights into expanding beyond China. Rather than simply following the trend of “going overseas,” they were more focused on strategic considerations for effective investment and sustainable international growth. This year, major changes in the administration’s structure and the panel’s core members (“inners”) are drawing attention.
