blaze

Closed beta

Fast Rust CI. From the compiler up.

blaze is a Rust compiler and build system we wrote from scratch. It keeps your project compiled in memory and rebuilds only what a change touched, with no cargo or rustc underneath. We're bringing it to CI with a few teams at a time.

Edit one function, then build · Linux x86-64

11× faster than cargo build, on average.

  1. ripgrep15.1.0 cargo 508 ms blaze 56 ms
  2. nushell0.108.0 cargo 1.25 s blaze 236 ms
  3. helix25.07.1 cargo 2.15 s blaze 116 ms
  4. bun1.25M lines of Rust cargo 9.11 s blaze 451 ms

24× on Linux aarch64 and 10× on macOS arm64, the geometric mean over real projects. These are blaze v1's numbers, warm against warm cargo on the same machine; v2 is not measured yet. Every project and how it's measured.

  • No cargo, no rustc

blaze compiles every crate itself, on its own pinned Rust, whatever the project pins.

  • Only what changed

A daemon keeps the project compiled in memory. After a change it recompiles the functions you touched and links again with its own linker.

  • Sandboxed

Build scripts and proc macros always run in a sandbox. Proc macros run as WebAssembly.

  • Tested on real projects

A release is stable once cargo, zed, servo, bun, Codex CLI and more build under it and pass their own test suites.
