Neat concept! Definitely has a strong sense of atmosphere, but after the 8th or so loop with nothing too crazy happening it started to feel a little repetitive. I liked the hallway with the banging door sound and the one with the lights turning on, I think those were the best at making me feel scared.
I'm glad you liked those hallways! Did you notice the one where you can hear a second pair of footsteps? I originally had the intention of making all hallways distinct from each other and try to lean into the "paranoia" of something following you.
Thank you for playing!
I don't know if this is endless or like exit 8? because I keep going down and never reach the finish line, but if it's like exit 8 there's no going back
It isn't endless, each hallway has small variations, some more subtle, some more noticeable. You make progress just by descending to a new floor. There are about 14 hallways in total, but I understand that it might have started to feel repetitive ( ╥ ω ╥ ).
Thank you for playing!
Interesting concept, and the subtle variations did play with my mind a bit (in a good way) ; I wasn't sure if there was an actual progression/end or if the loop is endless?
The variations did their job >:)
Yes, there is progression. I wanted to make it more obvious within the game but you are actually descending to new floors. There's about 14 hallways and each has a variation. The ending might be a little underwhelming tho: just a fade to black that implies the character's journey keeps going.
Thank you for playing!
Cool environment, and I was definitely curious to explore!
I felt unsure about what to do, and the lights off hallway was a cool variation, but there doesn't seem to be much of a game here. I'd love to have something change at least a little bit, and I worry most players will assume everything is infinite without slight variations.
Still, a cool experiment!
Glad to hear you liked the environment! I tried to go for a simple gameplay (basically a walking sim) and focus more on the variations of each hallway. They are a bit subtle at first but they get more extreme as you continue to go down; some play with visuals and some with sound, but each of them has something odd to point out. It is true that making the variations more noticeable/extreme would have been more entertaining but I didn't want to risk the deadline lol.
Thank you for playing!
Ah wait very cool! I may have to re-explore this later...
