World Lung Day, September 25, is dedicated to the health of an organ that is essential to our well-being. The most common chronic respiratory diseases continue to impact milions of lives, and strain health systems, making prevention, timely diagnosis and access to appropriate care more vital than ever. Menarini Group and NewAmsterdam Pharma receive European Commission approval for a new oral treatment in monotherapy and in combination for patients with hypercholesterolemia, both heterozygous familial ("HeFH") and non-familial, or mixed dyslipidemia. “This approval represents an important advancement for patients across Europe who require additional LDL-C lowering despite available therapies" said Elcin Barker Ergun, Chief Executive Officer of Menarini Group. "We are proud to reach this significant achievement alongside NewAmsterdam and look forward to leveraging our well-established commercial capabilities and deep cardiovascular expertise to bring this new treatment to healthcare providers and eligible patients throughout Europe.”

One word lies at the heart of the ERS Congress 2026 (European Respiratory Society ): Collaboration. And it is a word that concerns all of us, because better breathing is an achievement built together. From 5–9 September in Barcelona, the global respiratory community will gather around a theme that will help shape the future of respiratory care: "United for better breathing: partnership between patients, clinicians and researchers." The challenge is significant. Chronic respiratory diseases are the sixth leading cause of death in Europe, and in 2021 an estimated 81.7 million people across the region were living with one.
