Operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI

Last week in Helsinki, during Exercise MARSEC EU 26, Baltic Sea maritime law enforcement authorities gathered to strengthen regional and EU cooperation, enhance joint surveillance and intervention capabilities, and test interoperability under various Maritime Security scenarios. With this occasion, Rear Admiral (UH) Marco CASAPIERI, Operation Commander of IRINI, met with the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne JAAKKOLA, with the Deputy Chief of the Finnish Border Guard, Rear Admiral Tom HANÉN and Finnish Navy Chief of Staff, Commodore Janne HUUSKO. EUNAVFOR MED IRINI had the honour of welcoming H.E. Peter KMEC, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Italy, and his delegation to the Operational Headquarters in Rome. The delegation was received by Rear Admiral (UH) Marco CASAPIERI, Operation Commander, who provided a detailed briefing on IRINI’s mandate, activities, and its role as a credible EU Maritime Security Provider in the Central Mediterranean. The visit included a tour of the Joint Operations Centre and an exchange with Slovak personnel serving within the OHQ. A meaningful opportunity to reaffirm Slovakia’s support to EU efforts in maritime security and regional stability. #irini4peace
