Wood is a natural material that comes from the stems, branches and trunks of trees and other woody plants. It is harvested and processed into lumber and numerous other wood products used in construction, furniture manufacturing and a wide range of other applications.
Wood is commonly classified as either hardwood or softwood based on the type of tree from which it originates. Individual wood species can vary considerably in strength, density, appearance, workability and durability.
