Adani Airport Holdings has partnered with Brazilian aerospace company Embraer to establish a regional aircraft manufacturing and assembly facility in India. This will be the first time regional jets are assembled domestically, marking a key step in building India’s aerospace manufacturing capability. The collaboration brings together Embraer’s expertise in regional aircraft and Adani’s infrastructure platform. Akasa Air expands into aircraft maintenance infrastructure(MRO). India’s youngest airline is taking a significant step beyond flight operations. Akasa Air has announced plans to establish its first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Noida International Airport through a partnership with the airport operator. The facility will support a range of aircraft maintenance activities and is expected to strengthen the airline’s operational capabilities as its fleet and network continue to grow. For airlines, maintenance infrastructure plays a critical role in ensuring aircraft reliability, faster turnaround times, and better cost control. Developing in-house or dedicated MRO capacity can significantly improve operational efficiency while maintaining safety standards. The move also highlights a broader shift within India’s aviation ecosystem. Despite being one of the fastest-growing aviation markets, a large portion of aircraft maintenance work from Indian carriers is still carried out overseas. Expanding domestic MRO capabilities, especially at emerging aviation hubs like Noida; could help retain more of that value within the country while creating skilled jobs and technical expertise. As Noida International Airport prepares to begin operations, partnerships like this signal that the airport is positioning itself not only as a passenger hub, but also as a center for aviation services and infrastructure.
