But during ADU's visit to the GMR School of Aviation (GMR SOA) in Hyderabad, another equally important question came to mind: Who will maintain all those aircraft and keep India flying? Our beautiful afternoon drive from HICC Hyderabad to the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport took us from the conference halls where India's aviation future is discussed to an ecosystem where some of the professionals needed to build that future are being trained. And that made the visit special. Spread across approximately 75,000 sq. ft., GMR SOA is approved under DGCA CAR-147 and EASA Part-147 and has been designed around an industry-led philosophy—taking aviation education beyond the conventional classroom. What caught our attention was its emphasis on creating “Day One Industry-Ready” professionals. Students move from aircraft systems, engineering fundamentals and aviation regulations to practical workshops, simulation, structured On-Job Training and exposure to GMR Aero Technic's live MRO environment. Here, the distance between the textbook and the aircraft is deliberately kept short. The technology and international dimensions are equally interesting. The Airbus Competency Trainer brings aircraft-system familiarisation and troubleshooting into the training environment, while collaboration with Boeing introduces Competency-Based Training & Assessment methodologies. Partnerships with GMI Aero, France, and RMIT University, Australia, add composite-training, academic, research and international-learning dimensions. For ADU, however, the larger takeaway went beyond the facilities. Atmanirbhar Bharat in aviation cannot be achieved only by acquiring aircraft, building airports or creating MRO hangars. India must also become Atmanirbhar in aviation skills. An aircraft can be purchased relatively quickly. An experienced aircraft maintenance professional takes years to create. Our visit ended, therefore, with a thought that stayed with us on the drive back: India's aviation boom may be most visible in its skies, but much of its future will be built quietly on the ground—in classrooms, laboratories, workshops and hangars. Today, we inaugurated our aerospace manufacturing facility at the new MSME Technology Centre in Devanahalli, Bengaluru. This is where we begin building what AeroDef Structures was created to build: Aerospace structures. Advanced composites. Tooling. Production capability. And, over time, aerospace products of our own. We are already taking our first steps with customers, including NextLeap Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd. as a structures production partner. Today, we also showcased ARX-1- the first glimpse of our ambition beyond manufacturing for others. The Government has built a ₹156-crore advanced-manufacturing ecosystem here. We are here to build AeroDef Structures within it. This is Day 1. Now, we build.
