As part of our anniversary profile series, we spoke with Dermot Hennessy of our tower operations team, about the evolution of Ireland's mobile network infrastructure and the vital role our portfolio of almost 400 towers plays in supporting national connectivity. From strategically located tower sites across urban and rural Ireland to ongoing investment in infrastructure upgrades, our network helps support mobile operators and critical response services every day. Dermot also highlights how tower operations are evolving to support sustainability and resilience through initiatives such as co-location on existing infrastructure, utilising renewable energy sources with the installation of solar power and electric vehicle chargers, as well as the introduction of battery storage solutions on site. A busy time for the ESB Telecoms Tower Operations team as we continue to grow our asset portfolio through new site development and ongoing investment in our resilient infrastructure. 🗼 As part of this commitment, we are pleased to announce the construction and completion of a new 24-metre tower in Killeshandra, Co Cavan.  This new structure replaces the existing 20-metre timber pole.  🛜 The increased height and improved design allow our customers to install larger antennas, dishes and Remote Radio Units, improving coverage for end users in the surrounding area. 📶 We have also future proofed the site by installing additional cabinet concrete plinths and Radio Frequency Equipment (RFE) enclosures. 🔼 This upgrade will be a welcome benefit for both existing and future potential customers and the enhanced capacity will support the coverage needs of the local communities. 📍 The precise coordinates are:   Longitude = -7.53627   Latitude =54.01563 🤝 We look forward to welcoming new and prospective tenants, as the new structure allows us to expand our customer base and accept more equipment. 📱 We will continue growing our footprint in Co. At ESB Telecoms, we are focused on the continued expansion of our asset portfolio through the development of new sites and the upgrade of our resilient infrastructure nationally. ✅ This ongoing investment provides our customers with safe, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure that supports current and future connectivity requirements. 📍 As part of this commitment, we are delighted to announce the completion of a new tower at our site in Ballyraine, Co. Donegal. 🛜 The new structure which replaced an existing wooden pole provides additional structural capacity, allowing our customers to deploy upgraded equipment. 🔼 The enhanced design also benefits from a more user-friendly structure, improving ease of access and future adaptability. 📳 These upgrades will support stronger, more reliable network performance for end users in the surrounding areas. ✔️ The Ballyraine site is on net for the ESB Telecoms national fibre network, with availability of managed fibre services, up to 10Gb bandwidth and access to our national dark fibre network. 💡 The new tower reinforces our commitment to delivering resilient, scalable solutions to meet our customers’ needs. 📍 The site coordinates: Latitude: 54.95671 / Longitude: ‑7.71418 ⬆️ This upgrade delivers clear benefits for both existing and prospective customers, creating additional headroom for expanded equipment deployments and supporting the growing demand for connectivity. 🤝 We would also like to extend a special thank you to the teams who supported the successful delivery of this project. Thank you to our partner KTL for the excellent site works, particularly given the challenging build conditions and to Delmec for the site design and supply of the new monopole. 📳 We look forward to welcoming new and prospective tenants to the Ballyraine site and will continue to grow our footprint in Co.
