Support for TP-Link Archer T2U Plus (RTL8821AU) USB Wi-Fi adapter #90
Driver:8821au (DKMS, aircrack-ng fork via rtl8821au-dkms-git)
OS: Arch Linux
Kernel: 7.2.11-arch1-1
owly version: 0.4.0 (omdrop-owl-bin)
Problem
owly doctor and owly radio up both report:
hardware: This computer has no Wi-Fi interface that Owly can use.
The adapter is functional and supports monitor mode — it works with the older owl daemon using the -N flag (skip monitor mode setup, set manually via iw beforehand). AWDL peer discovery works correctly with owl -N, peers are seen in the log. The issue is only that owly does not recognize the adapter.
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 2357:0120 TP-Link Archer T2U PLUS [RTL8821AU]
Workaround
Manually set monitor mode and use the old owl daemon with -N:
sudo ip link set wlp13s0f3u3 down
sudo iw dev wlp13s0f3u3 settype monitor
sudo ip link set wlp13s0f3u3 up
sudo owl -i wlp13s0f3u3 -N &
This works for AWDL peer discovery. Would be great if owly could either auto-detect this adapter or support a --no-monitor-mode / -N flag similar to owl.
