That looks like src and main are part of the packages - make sure your source paths are set correctly.

I just use eclipse, but it's been a while since I initially set things up. cc @keycloak/cloud-native can anyone else chime in what IDE they use and how was the initial setup? |

I tried some of the recommendations so far. Maven-> Update Project appears to have helped. It's gone from thousands of reported problems to only 483. There are a lot, but many appear to be of the form:
Research suggests this may be caused by some of these packages existing in both the JRE and elsewhere, suggesting something wrong with the build path, but it's not clear to me what or how to fix it. Modifying classpath files: I spot-checked some of these, and the kind="src" entries I saw appear to match what you listed. I did check this after the Maven Update, so it's possible that fixed them before I looked. Things still on my to-attempt list: the retired cli plugin, asking over at m2e, trying IntelliJ as suggested by @mabartos. |
Yes, it appears that the update fixed most of your issues.
There is probably a way to lowers those from errors to warnings - they aren't actually errors as you should be able to successfully build with maven. Maybe check under the eclipse settings for Building -> Build path problems |

I eventually gave up on Eclipse and tried IDEA, as @mabartos suggested. With that IDE, I am able to launch the project. However, the launched site is not respecting my Environment variable setting for the database directory (-Dkc.home.dir=.kc), so I am not able to keep data between runs. Also, the page launches with what appears to be some missing CSS, and the browser console reports that patternfly.css is being blocked due to mime type mismatches. It's possible there is still something I'm missing in setup. I was not able to find the settings file mabartos mentioned to compare my configuration to his. I use IntelliJ IDEA, and I just start the Keycloak server in embedded mode --> class You can run the Debug mode for this server, and when you change something in the codebase, just rerun it. This is my XML settings for IDEA: <component name="ProjectRunConfigurationManager">

Another contributor helped me in the conversation under a PR I submitted to update documentation (#45806). He suggested running the site from a built-from-source version from the command line with the --debug flag, then attaching the IntelliJ IDEA debugger to it. That appears to have worked, but doesn't seem to match the instructions in https://github.com/keycloak/keycloak/blob/main/quarkus/README.md. |

I am new to Keycloak and attempting to get debugging working. I am able to build the project and run it from the generated zip file, but debugging is not working for me, following the instructions at https://github.com/keycloak/keycloak/blob/main/quarkus/README.md#running-in-keycloak-development-mode.
When I attempt to run within an IDE, I get build errors and cannot continue. The IDE has hundreds to thousands of errors with red underlines. Eclipse reports:
Error: Could not find or load main class src.main.java.org.keycloak.Keycloak
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: src.main.java.org.keycloak.Keycloak
I have done the "first build" step as described in the readme.
When running the command line command '"../mvnw -f server/pom.xml compile quarkus:dev -Dkc.config.built=true -Dquarkus.args="start-dev"', I get an error "Unknown lifecycle phase ".config.built=true". You must specify a valid lifecycle phase or a goal[...]" Full text here: maven error text.txt
Are the instructions out of date? Is there some other step I am missing?
