Overview

Display a leaderboard of CARES contributors to encourage participation.

Parent: #276

Phase 4 - Polish (Stretch Goal)

Possible Rankings

  • Most species registered
  • Most fry sharing events (especially Red seals)
  • Most articles published
  • Longest active registrations (longevity)
  • Total seals earned

Display

  • Similar to existing BAP standings
  • Annual and lifetime views
  • Member cards with seal counts

Gamification Considerations

  • Balance recognition with not making it feel competitive
  • Focus on conservation contribution, not competition
  • Consider "Member of the Year" equivalent

Acceptance Criteria

  • CARES standings page accessible
  • Multiple ranking categories
  • Annual and lifetime views
  • Integrates with existing standings UI patterns

    • "This Year" filters to current calendar year activity
    • Default: All Time

    Ranking Categories

    Tab Primary Metric Secondary Display
    Most Species Count of active registrations All seal counts
    Most Shares Total fry shares (Blue + Red) Breakdown by type
    Longest Maintained Oldest registration date Years count
    Most Articles Article count Species covered

    Tie Handling

    • Same rank number for ties (1, 1, 3, 4...)
    • Alphabetical by display name as secondary sort

    Opt-Out

    Not implemented initially - CARES participation is inherently public (per CARES program design).

    Future consideration: Allow members to appear as "Anonymous BAS Member" if requested.

    Mobile Layout

    • Cards stack vertically
    • Seals display on second line
    • Rank number prominent
