BOX: return the disk a stopped or exited box holds in BOX-159 (needed by BCLI-006) #2869

Closed as not planned

Description

@mitodrummer

The BCLI spec (#1991, docs/specs/28-spec-box-cli) needs a figure that BOX (docs/specs/29-spec-box-local-first) does not return: the disk that a stopped or exited box holds.

What BCLI needs from the daemon

  • BCLI-006: min box show <box> reports the disk that each stopped or exited box holds, and min box prune --dry-run reports the sum.
  • The prune --dry-run half also needs a prune that lists its matches and reaps nothing. min box rm and min box prune verbs over ReapBox/PruneBoxes (BCLI-004/005/006) #2834 tracks that mode and its BOX-021 amendment.
  • The box show half needs the disk figure in the record BOX-159 returns. BOX-159 has no such field today.

Plan

The figure lands as a BOX-159 amendment to spec 29, in its own PR, separate from #1991. Measure it from the box's retained filesystem and its retained output log. BCLI's Rollout names this issue and #2834 as the dependencies of BCLI-006.

This amendment can also go into #2834's scope. #2834 changes the same record for the dry run. If it does, close this issue as a duplicate of #2834.

    Folded into #2834, which already changes the same record for the prune --dry-run half of BCLI-006. The disk figure is now in #2834's scope. It counts the retained filesystem, the output log and the events stream, and it excludes Box Volumes (BVOL-008).
