  • Hello Colab Team,

I have been unable to connect to Google Colab runtimes since late October 2026.

The connection repeatedly switches between “Connecting” and “Reconnect”.

Environment:

  • Country: Japan
  • Browser: Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
  • OS: Windows
  • Runtime: Both CPU and GPU
  • New notebooks also fail

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
  • CPU and GPU runtimes
  • New notebooks
  • Mobile hotspot
  • Changed Windows DNS to Google Public DNS, then reverted
  • QUIC was already disabled

None of these solved the issue.

Chrome DevTools Console shows:

  • ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR
  • WebSocket error
  • Received error 1006
  • Runtime disconnected

The WebSocket connection to the Colab runtime hostname under *.us-central1.prod.r.colab.dev repeatedly fails.

Could you please investigate this persistent connection issue?

Thank you.
