How to reproduce:

  1. Select a user region so that it is visible in the panel.
  2. Click the Select user region button.
  3. The UI is collecting spans for a while, with Collecting spans... dots animating.
  4. The UI then freezes.

When I checked profiler, it pointed to the Events(spans, si.trace) call in SpansInfo.init.
