Proposal: Include reflector in the image
Hi,
I’d like to propose including reflector in the container image.
Background
I’m using pacoloco in Kubernetes with a Helm chart and implemented an init container that fetches and updates Arch Linux mirror lists via reflector.
These mirrors are then used by pacoloco for more efficient and up-to-date package caching.
The main issue is that there is currently no well-maintained reflector container image available.
This makes it necessary to either maintain a separate image or build a custom solution around it.
Proposal
Include reflector directly in the pacoloco image so it can be used in init containers without requiring an additional image.
Benefits
- Avoids the need to maintain a separate
reflectorimage - Simplifies Kubernetes / Helm deployments
- Enables dynamic mirror selection with minimal setup
Status
I already have a working implementation and could open a PR if this approach is accepted.
